Re: Targetting CUDA support but what about Vulkan API?
My god people here are flipping lazy. Skeptic or not, if you really want examples, please brush up on your google/duckduckgo/whatever skills. They are literally a few clicks away. It supports Rust, C, C++, Java, Golang among other programming languages. Your forum rules say to moderate the length of...

Re: Targetting CUDA support but what about Vulkan API?
Respectfully the same can be said for others posting in this thread too who may not have bothered reading everything in the topic. With the exception of John Chodera self proclaimed knowledgeable contributors to this thread have been repeating the same incorrect assumptions with clearly dismissive a...

Re: performance differences in Linux distros?
FAH only has 2 Linux distributions of their software. Any other version of Linux either bases itself on one of these two, or uses a recompiled version; which means it's not particularly made for that operating system. well aware of that, it says so in my post about arch and manjaro. the fah snap so...

Re: Targetting CUDA support but what about Vulkan API?
Vulkan is not OpenGL or a combination of OpenCL and OpenGL. Vulkan is a new generation graphics and compute API that provides high-efficiency, cross-platform access to modern GPUs used in a wide variety of devices from PCs and consoles to mobile phones and embedded platforms. https://github.com/Khro...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
Modern cards are indeed backwards compatible with PCI-E 2.0 but it actually depends on the specific PCI-E controller in the motherboard chipset or more recently on the processor die itself as to whether or not the card is compatible or not. You can certainly use an older card in a newer PCI-E 4.0 re...

wait until all running work units are finished otherwise yes you will lose any work done on active unit and the unit will be sent to another user to complete.

Re: FAH Control in Ubuntu 20.04
Amazon themselves are okay most of the time, marketplace is not controlled or monitored very well though so you can be ripped off if not careful. eBay is no different but there are both trustworthy and dodgy vendors and purchasers there too. An online gaming team mate of mine attempted to sell his G...

Re: performance differences in Linux distros?
The arch version is a repackage of the debian files, it works no faster on manjaro but may with arch linux as they are different beasts. manjaro will run the arch linux fah packages BUT while originally based on arch should not be considered as arch linux with a more user friendly install routine an...

Re: performance differences in Linux distros?
The only difference I have personally observed is how easy or not it is to setup on different distributions. I found Arch based Manjaro easier to install fahclient and fahcontrol to than I did Ubuntu 20.04 which required some faffing about. Apparently there will be a new Linux fahcontrol released as...

I have seen this in research papers too and that's nice recognition but I still see the potential cures as the real reward

Re: What is happening at CERN Team?
I don't know about anyone else here but I certainly don't fold in the hope of ever being thanked for it, the 'thanks' we will receive is not dying from the researched diseases ourselves or saving future generations from the same fate. I concur about the wasted bandwidth and hardware runtime though, ...

Re: Targetting CUDA support but what about Vulkan API?
There are also an increasing number of ARM powered computers coming to the market which will benefit from this and also folding with Intel GPU and OpenCL is sketchy to say the least from the threads on this forum. Enabling support for Vulkan libraries which are shipped as standard now with most of t...

Re: What is happening at CERN Team?
All rather depends on whomever usually manages them being in a fit state to do so or have the means to at home. If you are that concerned try emailing CERN about it
