on client local 127.0.0.1:36330: Access denied: invalid pass

Post by KVolker »

Hi,

because of the "'finish up, then stop' not working on web control" issue I installed the latest update. Now I get "on client local 127.0.0.1:36330: Access denied: invalid password" on the Advanced Control panel. How can I fix that?

Welcome to the F@H Forum KVolker,

Out of curiosity, did you upgrade your client installation from a previous version or did you perform a fresh installation of V7.6.13?

I had the same issue and just removed the password in previous version before upgrade to new version.

Please note that it is a known issue: https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-issues/issues/1419

Here's an option for you:

Use Web Control to set the slots to finish.
Save the username/passkey/team details in clear text in a secure location.
Uninstall the client and ensure that you select the option to delete the data
Perform a fresh installation of V7.6.13 and it should solve your issue.

Yes, to remove and reinstall seems to be an obvious solution. But I wanted to update over the existing data, because of the "finish then stop" does not "finish or stop" bug. If I finish and then remove including data, would the work done on the running work unit already then be lost? How does the backend know that I got the work unit, but stopped in the middle and will never send the solution back? Will it be resent to someone and then still be finished? After which time, and does it delay the whole project of that work unit?

wait until all running work units are finished otherwise yes you will lose any work done on active unit and the unit will be sent to another user to complete.

It was my understanding that the bug was only present in Web Control, not Advanced Control (AKA FAHControl). Thus, you an use FAHControl to Finish the Slots, uninstall including the option to delete the data and then perform a fresh installation.
