Two questions from a newbie
Hello there,
Two fast questions for you,
1st> I am using an AMDx64 machine with win10 installed on it, but F@H says I'm using a Win32 OS. Why is his?
2nd> Is it possible to edit lets say a cfg file where I can define which kind of WUs I want to compute? I want to avoid project 18806 WUs.
Thank you!

Re: Two questions from a newbie
Client uses win32 api, despite being a 64-bit app. Servers expect platform to be win32.

Define this a little more clear, please.

This link does not help me at all, my question was Is it possible somehow to disable downloading specific WUs?

Re: Two questions from a newbie
I said no. Unless you want to play with blocking ip addresses.
Why do you want to block assignments of that project?

If the assignment is inappropriate for your configuration, you need to post what your hardware is and how your client is configured.
It is possible that the constraints for that project need to be adjusted.

Re: Two questions from a newbie
Wouldn't blocking IPs cause the WU to expire and be counted as failed? Or does the timeout and deadline only start ticking once the WU is downloaded, and not after the assignment tells the client where to find its assigned WU?

Re: Two questions from a newbie
Yes probably.
Timeout and deadline are calculated from assignment time.
So, bad idea.
I know someone was doing it anyway.
They maybe don’t care about random failed units.

Re: Two questions from a newbie
It might be that the assignment times out very shortly (within minutes?) if the WU isn't downloaded. I say this because sometimes, a WU server will give me a 503 please wait error (maybe due to a VPN rate-limit). The client will then contact a different assignment server and will receive an entirely new assignment, basically ignoring the first one rather than re-trying the download. And yet no failed WUs have showed up on my bonus stats many days later.
Which also makes me think the client should probably retry the work server if it gets a 503 from a work server, instead of pretending the assignment it got seconds ago never happened and asking for an entire new assignment.
