Hello ,
are there building instructions for systemd-free distro like Devuan 5.0 (based on Debian 12)
tried to install via amd64.deb, but it would not function due to missing systemctl.
thanks.

You need to build yourself on a system that does not have systemd.

You probably can’t use the built rpm package, which I think assumes systemd.
Just use the built executable in a directory of your choosing.
The client always uses the current working directory as the data directory when launched.
