How to add new Mac Pro to F@H 8.3.18

Post by TomJohnson »

Did Migration Assistant transfer from old Mac Pro 2 to new Mac Pro 3. Prior F@H client was brought over to new MP3 and is processing under old MP2 settings but log show new MP3 is recognized. Have Red colored log entry - "WU with client ID xxxxxx does not belong client (line cut off).
How do I add new MP3 to F@H Client Listing of 11 computers and delete old MP2 WU ?
MP2 is running WU Project 12421 and MP3 is running WU Project 18497 and is 5% complete.

I'm not following the question.

Meanwhile, I recommend you upgrade to beta 8.4.9
https://foldingathome.org/beta/
and use https://v8-4.foldingathome.org/

If the same WU is running on two computers after migration, pause and dump the cloned WU.

Linking a machine happens when you login using web control on that machine.
The client detects a hardware id change and generates a new uuid "F@H ID".

Each computer is running a separate WU but the web control Client log shows that both computers are identified as MP2. My solution is to uninstall F@H on MP3 then reinstall F@H on MP3 then restart and go to web control Client to re-enter my profile info.
I installed 8.4.9 on MP2 and it seems to be working properly.
Thanks for the reply.

The machine name ends up in client.db

You can change a name via machine settings when logged into web control. Look at info if it’s unclear which is which.

When viewing Client Details it shows "MAC-PRO-SSD-2.local". All Machine data below is correct for MP3.

Code: Select all

I have MP3 Local hostname set to "Mac-Pro3.local"

Finally figured out how to fix this problem - went to this URL for Client = https://v8-4.foldingathome.org/machines - then went to MP2 Machines Name line then clicked on Gear icon then went to Machine/Name line which then permit User to Edit the Name to "MAC-PRO-3.local". :)
Recommend that this info be added to FAQs.
Thanks for your help.
