F@H Client V7.6 GPU Frying

Post by suprleg »

Never happened before in years of folding, however after reinstalling the kernel and installing a downgraded nvidia driver having though 550.120 was a bad Linux driver, I'm still experiencing insane GPU temps almost instantly after starting the client. When F@H isn't running the GPU stays stable with low, normal temps in the 28-32C range. This is happening with any video card I install. Ideas??

Unfortunately no, that's a link to my post in the Ubuntu Forums, but thanks for the response.

Is it the same topic as this one : viewtopic.php?t=42190 ?

Why do you post the same question at multiple sub forums ? It won't help you get more answers ...

Because the forum is dead and I'm trying to get any info possible,,, Pretty sure, after almost 20 years folding , that F@H and all distributed computing projects are their last legs. $$$$
Take a look at the posting frequency,,,at least I got some response.

A discord was created during COVID, many people go there now instead of here on the forum.

Best I can say about your problem using the info you have split up over multiple topics, is that a number of people have reported various problems using the most recent Nvidia drivers on older Ubuntu versions such as 18.04. There are also issues with available libraries, newer versions exist that may have been used for creating the drivers and folding cores. Not sure where this becomes less of an issue, it is a few years since I ran an Ubuntu system for folding.
