7.6.20

Post by gs60 »

Hello,

Is 7.6.20 ready for general release? I only ask as on the main homepage https://foldingathome.org/, the main download links are 7.6.13 and the alternate downloads are all 7.6.20. Just curious.

Thank you!

From what I can tell. It is not. I registered on this forum to actually post about an issue with the client. It completely freezes up and refuses to connect or display. 7.6.13 worked perfectly so I rolled back to it.

I recommend you wait for 7.6.21.
7.6.13 seems to be tolerably stable.

Anyone new to the project will now find only 7.6.20, so it would be quite a strong indication that it is released for the general public.

The only problem I found is that the pid-file feature seems to be broken (Linux).

Cheers,
HG

Actually it will depend on how someone gets to the download page. If they go to foldingathome.org and click the download link there, that goes to 7.6.13 versions. Clicking on the "Alternative Versions" link on that page goes to 7.6.20 downloads.

The "Start Folding" link at the top of other pages within the F@h site leads to 7.6.20 downloads as well

7.6.20 works OK for me on Win7 64-bit, but it still does not have Python 3, as required by Ubuntu 20.4.1.
I hope this can be fixed soon.

I'm running FAH 7.6.21 on Ubuntu 20.04 and the commands "systemctl stop FAHClient" and "systemctl restart FAHClient" are still borked. Also happens on previous versions.

We are waiting for one to be compiled and provided. Once that happens it will be posted.
