Trying to do a Hot fix driver clean install. One win10 machine, will open DDU with a white window & only thing visible, upper left corner is 'DDU Launch Options.' Nothing happens at this point no matter how long I wait.
For the clean install of 376.48 would 'Revo Uninstaller' be acceptable?
Or 'programs & features' delete all NIVDIA. Anything else to be manually removed?
Or other means for prep, for the new driver
Also, since old driver has been removed, leave UN TICKED clean install of 376.48, or does this get TICKED?
_____
Note DDU worked fine on a win7 dedicated folder, I was surprised after choosing 'highly recommended' the machine did not go to safe mode
Thanks
Rico

Re: Driver install
I just installed the new driver over the old without any uninstaller and it worked.
Re: Driver install
Hi Foldy
Update with 'Aileen' & her 1050 ti on line. I'm doing 1.2 mill - 800k ppd. & roughly 70 - 45 wu's per day. With the older drivers, I would get anywhere from 1 - 4 days without a stalled GPU, (fails to re-start folding). Most probable reason for variance in ppd.
On this Win10 machine, which does not like, DDU, I did the 'FULL' driver install so now I have @prog & features:
1. NVidia graphics driver
2. GeForce experience
3. Nividia PhysX software
Can #2 & 3 be deleted

Re: Driver install
Yes #2 & #3 are not needed for folding

Re: Driver install
After downloading the driver from NVidia, simply execute it. It contains its own installer and you get to choose which components to install (I use " NVidia graphics driver" only.)

Re: Driver install
Agree get it from NVIDIA!
Choosing just 'graphics driver' all others unticked, found PhysX at program & features.
One machine I used NVIDIA control panel to disable it by: at nvidia control panel choosing 'PhysX' then choosing CPU > apply
The other machine NVIDIA control panel would not open, so I deleted PhysX, using prog & features.
Thanks Guys
I'm still in my 'rookie' year of folding, Thanks for the patience

Re: Driver install
I believe Nvidia drivers place an uninstall program in Win Programs but AMD does not. To downgrade Nvidia drivers it worked when I first let the Nvidia uninstall program remove its drivers, then reboot, and needed or not I ran DDU in Safe Mode before installing new driver. If I just used DDU I had problems downgrading Nvidia driver.

Re: Driver install
Aurum, when installing Nvidia drivers, the user can select "Clean install," which completely removes the previous drivers before installing the upgrade (or downgrade) drivers.
Does anyone know if having Physx installed affects Folding performance negatively? Sure, not needed - I know that. But is it detrimental to have installed?

Re: Driver install
FAH does not care about Physx installed or not, no influence on performance
