The preferred deadline is 4.0 days. You may have downloaded the same WU twice, but the bonus is calculated based on the FIRST download to the FIRST successful upload. According to the records on the stats server, that amounted to 5.49 days, hence no bonus.

I have no control on what WU that is downloaded, but must just take what comes. Then the error is on the server that gives me these work units, in my opinion. Past history shows no other download of the same WU as far as I can see, if this is what has happened. What I can see is that all errors occur on the server 130,237,232,141. As I said earlier, I lost three P6900 with this server who could not accept the upload of such Work Units over 2 - 3 days, from September 3 to 5.

I gave you the data that I have access to: That the WU was downloaded, was not completed, was redownloaded, and was completed, resulting in a total time-span longer than the preferred deadline --- hence no bonus. (You have not provided any information about what happened to the first download. That information should still be in your log.)

Servers do occasionally have hardware and/or software problems, but they're pretty rare, and not directly related to the WU you're asking about. The Pande Group does what they can to fix them promptly. There are a number of posts by Kasson regarding the problems and the fixes that 130.237.232.141 has required and what is still being done to bring that server back on-line. We appreciate your report, but when problems like that do occur, they affect everyone, not just you. The published information on the bonus plan clearly states that the Pande Group will do everything possible to maintain reliable servers, but they will not make individual adjustments.

Yes you will loose the bonus on this one too as the clock started on the original download on the 4th, I suspect this what happened on the original WU you reported, is the computer overclocked at all?

It is an Intel i7 980X running on 4.6GHz, for P6904 it will give a credit of approx. 400K, and hence a PPD of approx. 100K.

I stopped it and got down a P6903 which gives less credit, but and I hope it will complete.

BTW, previously I get 2x core status 8b after I upgraded my RAM to 2133 (2600k) and it was not stable running at xmp profile. Increased VCCIO (CPUIO V) and it was stable since.

From a practical point of view, there's a pretty good chance that the backup will fail too, and you'll just be wasting your time manipulating FAH's files. Then, too, legally speaking, manipulating FAH's files by using that backup is prohibited by the EULA.

If the fresh copy of the WU can be completed based on the projected speed of your system, let it run. If the fresh copy CANNOT be completed, delete it and let the client move on to something it can complete.

If these events happen more than once in a long time, give your system's overclock more margin and make sure your system is absolutely stable before wasting any more time trying to fold. Unstable systems cost both you and Stanford more than you can gain by trying to get the ultimate overclock to run.

ERROR 0x8b is an OC problem I run 5 - 970 and 980X rigs when the 6904's first came out I got that error several times and it usually does not happen until later on in the WU My OC's were 100% stable with all other bigadv WU's. I stopped my machines from folding the 6904's until I readjusted my OC on all of my rigs. I have not had a problem since, I highly recommend you lower your OC or raise your v or you will just be wasting your time folding when it comes to the 6904's you may get 1 to complete once in a while with your current OC but most will fail usually after 70% so a waste of 3 or more days folding. All of my rigs now run at 4.4Ghz or less to run these 100% stable. I was able to run all of the rest of the bigadv stable up to 4.65Ghz with a couple of my 980X rigs but they will not run the 6904's at that.

Thanks for your advice, I have now clocked my i7 980X slightly down to 4.55GHz which seems to work well with the P6903 which will be completed on Sunday. This is my first I7 980X I have in folding so I do need some time before I can find the setting that makes it stable. Before this I run a while with standard SMPs, which I never had a crash with so I tooth it was stable, but there is apparently a difference up running P690n WUs.

Be aware that for me the 6903 WU's were not as difficult to run as the 6904 WU's. You may still need to lower the OC a little to be 6904 stable.
