Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v6/v7
They do show as Uniprocessor with correct status. And that message 'Could not find log section for slot x' is all over the log. Most of them are for the two UNI slots, but there's some for the GPU slots scattered in there as well.
~~EDIT~~
Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing 2.5 hours after installing 0.9.0

Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v6/v7
OK, when you look at the log viewer for either of those Uniprocessor slots does it show the proper log section?
How big is the log file for the local client? You can right-click on any slot and select 'View Cached Log File'.
Can you send me your HFM.log file please? You can find me (harlam357) at gmail.

Here's another sample of the v6 smp.
Of course, another hint is the actual calling sequence for the core with the -np 8 parameter for each individual work unit.
[08:46:43] - Calling '.\FahCore_a4.exe -dir work/ -nice 19 -suffix 01 -np 8 -checkpoint 15 -verbose -lifeline 4296 -version 634'

Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v6/v7
My fault: The x makes the difference. Originally I saved the config as hfm file, so I couldn't see it in the file selection window.harlam357 wrote:I see the .hfmx file just fine here. Sure you're looking in the right folder? That open file dialog will only show .hfmx files.Fahrenheit451 wrote:I assume it is a bug: If I save the config file and I want to add it in the "Startup & External" > "Load configuration file" I did not see it in the file selection window, even though I'm in the same folder as the config file. So I needed to enter the whole path manually. It's not a big thing as I assume that most HFM users doesn't change their setup and the config file name every day, but it is confusing if you know that you have saved a config file and the application doesn't show you its own file.
@harlam357: I run HFM with Win Vista Ultimate 32bit. If you need additional information please let me know.
But HFM seems to work with both file extensions.
This is how it comes to this side effect: I installed the new version over the previous HFM installation. The old config file "HFM-Config.hfm" was saved in the HFM program folder. After I have added all the clients and want to save the new config file in the same folder, Windows auto complete suggested as file name "HFM-Config.hfm" which I have accepted.
My system specs: (http://foldingforum.org/memberlist.php? ... le&u=16896).

Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v6/v7
Here is one of my log files with A4 single core WU's:harlam357 wrote: Re: v6 and the A4 core. In v7 I can get the client type (Uniprocessor, SMP, GPU) from the v7 client itself. So A4 detects correctly in the main grid with v7. With v6 the client type is determined by a Core > Client Type mapping. Since A4 started out as a Uniprocessor only core, HFM still recognizes v6 clients this way. In fact, to my knowledge, A4 is the only core that allow single or multi-threaded execution. So it just doesn't fit the Core > Client Type mapping that works for every other core. In other words, he's just an odd duck. I have considered adding a Uni/SMP client type. The other option is to go back to the v6 log parsing and add some A4 Uniprocessor/SMP detection. I'd be willing to do this... but I don't have any A4 Uniprocessor and A4 SMP logs from v6 clients with which to test. If someone can provide those I can write the detection.

Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v6/v7
Is it possible to change the Slot Type from Uniprocessor to Uni or CPU and change the heading to just Type? It would free up some space for adding more columns etc. Not a big deal but would help with organizing the interface.
Also, is it possible to have the PPD and Credit figures right justified. Again, not a big deal but it would help with readability.
I find that counting pauses as failed to be counter-productive. In the past when I saw a failure I knew I had some checking and maybe some reporting to do but now I don't.
One final thing I've noticed has to do with Toggle Completed Count Style. In one view it shows the current counts since last start up. When toggled it shows the total count for v6 clients but zero for v7 clients.

Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v6/v7
Switched the other V7 machine from SMP to 8 UNI clients and updated HFM to 0.9.0 for testing. Everything seems normal and HFM updates correctly.
I wonder if the speed of the slot is an issue. The 8 UNI is averaging 00:28:17 TPF while the first machine's UNI clients are 02:40:00 TPF and 02:38:00 TPF.
The four GPU slots are running sub-minute TPFs.
I have another folder running mixed GPU/UNI that I can test this on, but it will be @2 weeks before it completes current work.

Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v6/v7
I don;t understand how to set up remote monitoring on V7 with the new HFM. Can someone help me with an example?
Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v6/v7
Similar newbie issue here; I've set up a remote client in HFM and it clearly has a connection, since it correctly shows the slot type, Core, Core ID and Project, but it's all zeros in the TPF, PPD and ETA(these items are all visible and updating in FAHControl locally on that remote device). It did finally update in FHM and show the % progress correctly.
The local client is listed and updating properly.
FAHcontrol is properly showing the remote device with all the info properly displayed/updated.
Hmm.... guess I was just impatient or something. After about 10-15 minutes, the info came up.

Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v6/v7
I'm not sure what is going on, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but yesterday I started using HFM again after a few months hiatus from folding and I noticed that last WU in the WU history list in HFM is from 21.3.2011 (even though I stopped folding in december that year).
This would indicate that with one of the previous versions of HFM it stopped adding WUs into that list. Yesterday I installed the new version (0.9.0) and completed units still aren't being recorded there. I also tried clean install (uninstalled HFM and deleted it's folder in %appdata%) and the list stayed empty even after completing some more WUs.
by the way, thank you harlam for this great program, it is an amazing monitoring tool

Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v6/v7
I like Slot Type. I think it will stay... with the client/core version information on with SMP and GPU slots it lines up rather nicely. I think the use of 'Uniprocessor' as a client type was there in v0.6.2. Can't say I remember for sure. I haven't run a Uniprocessor client in a long time. I considered using Uni or CPU for the same reason you're suggesting but this doesn't jive with what the slots are called in the v7 client. To make things clear between what someone sees in v7 and HFM I decided to leave the name spelled out.bollix47 wrote:Is it possible to change the Slot Type from Uniprocessor to Uni or CPU and change the heading to just Type? I'll tried this and in one regard I like it and in another I don't. It is easier to see which clients have higher PPD and Credit. However, it's impossible to get any space between the right side of a right-justified column and the left side of a left justified column. This I really don't like. Not dismissing this idea. It has merit but if this is going to happen it is going to be user configurable.bollix47 wrote:Also, is it possible to have the PPD and Credit figures right justified. I've entered an issue on this based on yours and previous comments: http://code.google.com/p/hfm-net/issues/detail?id=271bollix47 wrote:I find that counting pauses as failed to be counter-productive. Couple options here. Remove the Total Completed Display all together so we don't get 0 values for v7. Second, pull this number from the WU History for all clients (v6 & v7) in lieu of parsing it from the logs for v6 clients only. I imagine everyone would like the latter but everyone please feel free to share you opinion.bollix47 wrote:One final thing I've noticed has to do with Toggle Completed Count Style. Issue is here: http://code.google.com/p/hfm-net/issues/detail?id=272
HFM is bound to the log file. It needs the entire thing, specifically the end, to get an accurate reading. There is a speed issue transferring this data and I'm looking into it and will attempt to address it in the next update. Once things sync up, however, updates should be instant since log updates are small in comparison to the entire log file.j3pflynn wrote:Hmm.... guess I was just impatient or something. Hi ^w^ing! If there are errors writing completed WUs to the WU History Database these will be logged in the HFM.log file. When a WU is set to be written to the database you should see something like this in the Messages Window (F7):^w^ing wrote:I'm not sure what is going on, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but yesterday I started using HFM again after a few months hiatus from folding and I noticed that last WU in the WU history list in HFM is from 21.3.2011 (even though I stopped folding in december that year).

If an error occurs executing the write it will be logged after that line. Thanks very much for your kind words ^w^ing. Let's see if we can get this figured out and I'll feel a bit better. If you send me your HFM.log file (Help Menu) I'll gladly take a look at it. oh right, there's a log file, I didn't realize. Whenever a WU is finished, it throws an exception and the system message reads "input string has wrong format":

Yep... that will do it. What language settings are you using with Windows? Is that Russian or Czech? I only test with en-US (English United States) settings, so things like this can easily slip by. This is something I can and will fix. Just need the proper language settings to reproduce it.
