Rehab programs for folding@home addicts?
Hello, Im an adult and anonymous folding@home addict , erm.
Ive bought four second-hand 8800GT and GTS cards the last 10 days, for the purpose of folding. And if that isnt bad enough... tonight I bought an additional GTX 280... for what purpose? Folding ofc.
Am I the only one feeling a little bit crazy around this folding deal? Im also gonna upgrade 2-3 of my CPU to 45nm Quad Cores for the purpose of hmm folding@home.
I should be on your paylist Dr. Pande A personally signed and framed photograph will do hehe.
BTW:
Im gonna consider buying an HD4870x2(R700) for gaming purposes in late september... if i can afford it

Re: Rehab programs for folding@home addicts?
Perhaps not all adictions are so bad.
It is a contribution with great potential.
Have you seen some of the folding "farms" some of these folks build?
If you can afford it and it doesn't cause other problems, why not enjoy it?
Cheers

Re: Rehab programs for folding@home addicts?
I gamed on my HD4850 for the first time yesterday. I've had it for 3 weeks. It's been folding since day one.

Re: Rehab programs for folding@home addicts?
Hi, my name is Fadamor and I am a F@H junkie.
I have one computer with two cards in it and I feel guilty when I stop the clients to play a few hours of Medieval II. And when they fix the issue with running the clients while playing games, I'll feel guilty knowing the clients aren't running at their full potential. My wife (bless her heart) thinks my addiction is gaming. She thinks the roll of money I spent on this new computer was so I could play games like Crysis. I have kept the horrible truth from her during the entire four years of our marriage.

Why do you think I want the GPU2 client to run under Linux - for games??!?
PS I've somehow roped my wife into automatically checking all the clients are working fine when I'm away on business

Re: Rehab programs for folding@home addicts?
I have two video games still sitting here in their shrinkwrap because I became a Folding addict right after buying them.
The completely silent HTPC in my living room is now a noisy heat box because it's been upgraded for Folding.
I'm planning to build a new garage next summer, and I assume it will have a PC in the corner to supply outdoor music... and Folding.

"Rumors that the National Power Utilities Consortium has voted Dr. Pande of Stanford University to receive their "Man of the Century" award are simply untrue", said a spokesman for the Consortium. "They've only voted him "Man of the Decade".bapriebe wrote:There should be a picture of Dr. Pande on every power bill with the caption "This man needs you"noorman wrote:Check your power bill first

My name is HaloJones and I am a folding junkie.
I can't pass a computer without thinking about how I can get a client on there. I bought a 9600GT purely for folding when the 8800GT I bought on eBay didn't work. The most graphically intensive game I play is Freecell! I upgraded a perfectly adequate media server just to fold on. I hate it when my kids play games or my wife even checks the news.
