LONG time folder (rank 88), seldom forum visitor...
I had to upgrade to to the newest client on my server to utilize the higher number of CPU's (96) without having to break it into so many smaller clients. It was also something of a test to see if I wanted to swap my other units over to it, as they run version 7 non-web control. I'm a "if it isn't broke don't fix it" kind of person.
Anyway, on my HEDT computer, I very frequently use both the finish function, as well as the individual pause functions but I see no way of doing that on the new one. Is it no longer in there or am I looking over it? If it is no longer there, can we request that it be put back in?
For the finish option, it seems like they would be good for the cause too so people don't have to abandon unfinished units when they make changes to their systems. The individual client pause I actually use even more as I have multiple GPU's in my gaming PC. Depending on the game, I pause only the CPU and sometimes the main GPU and leave the others going.
This is more out of curiosity than anything, but can certain work servers be excluded? One of my systems has been acting up a bit lately according to F@H so I was looking at the logs. I didn't look at them all, but most of the logs I looked at, the dumped was one of two work servers and all the failed ones were from a single one. I am not positive that server doesn't have a bad core in its CPU, so not blaming them, but it did catch my attention.
Also, what does this mean in the dump log: "May include credits awarded to other users."
A few had another users name by it. Have they started the crypto method of only the first one to submit gets credit? I hope not.
Thanks in advance for any feedback/information.

Re: Finish and individual client pause function on new web control version
For Finish if you click on the Pause button, you should be given the option of pausing immediately or finishing the WU and then pausing. This should be happening with both the Pause All button and the individual Pause controls for each active folding device.
From the client there is no way to exclude work servers. If you notice WUs from a particular project or server post the information about your system's hardware and OS configuration and what WU(s) failed and that can be looked into. It may need a settings change on the servers to not assign to certain hardware. Or it could be something that a client configuration change will fix.
Finally, the Web Control for the v8 client is using a similar WU lookup as is available here - https://apps.foldingathome.org/wu. That reports all users who uploaded a WU whether successful or not. Successful uploads all get credits awarded, even if someone has finished ahead of them.

Re: Where is the finish and individual client pause function on new web control version
Thanks @Joe_H for the explanation. I hadn't yet tried to pause it on the server. I do see the finish option you are referring to. For the pause however, they are all saying stop ALL. I've clicked all the different options on the line of each client and don't see anything that denotes I can pause from an individual one. Where is the individual pause controls? I may be blind, but I am not seeing it.
If this does exist on the new one, I'll upgrade my home office/gaming HEDT. I was reading the release notes about how it combines resources when it can to submit work units even faster. Very cool.
I'll run a full battery of tests on this server and if it passes those, I'll start watching and submitting as you mentioned. I recently bought 2 upgraded CPU's that I gave a half day hammering before folding, but that's the only thing that has changed aside from the client so I'll check my side first.

Re: Where is the finish and individual client pause function on new web control version
When I am on https://v8-4.foldingathome.org/machines, the pause control for each device or system is two black bars to the right hand side of the display. To the left of that is a gear for settings changes, the icon for looking at the log, and an "i" for info. When I click the Pause icon, I get a popup that reads, Resume, Pause, or Finish. I currently have 3 systems with v8.4.9 installed, folding on 2 of them. Occasionally fold on the laptop for testing purposes.

If you want to set pause and finish on individual GPUs, you need to create resource groups.

Re: Where is the finish and individual client pause function on new web control version
Mine looks like the picture below but with a single system client on v8. See how only the entirety of the group can be paused? I have those same 4 icons, with one grayed out just like that on each line. It looks like one called Luma is one client which would pause all of its folding resources. That's what mine looks like. Sorry to reuse one of your own pictures, I saw this picture on the link Calxalot listed. I see the reference to what he mentioned regarding resource groups. I created 2 but didn't add anything to them. I can see they each have their own pause option.
I'll let these finish on my server and test them there to see if that's what I am after to use on my main F@H producer. Can, and is it advisable to, allocate devices to more than one group so they can share depending on user needs? I.E. If I am not going to be gaming for a couple of weeks, would the pair of RTX 4090's or 2080ti's work together to produce more than if they were each in their own group by enabling and disabling which group they were in?
Thanks again for your help and for all that you do for the community.

Do not enable a particular GPU in more than one group. Do not oversubscribe your cpu threads. Each GPU will need a cpu thread whether you add it to a group or not.

Re: Where is the finish and individual client pause function on new web control version
I see what you mean, with no CPU's it does nothing. But, when I give it one (or more) it starts CPU folding with. Is there a way to tell it to use the unused CPU's? In other words, I have a server with 88 cores, and it has two RTX-2080's. I'd like to have a generic group with 84 cores doing CPU folding, and the other 4 cores dedicated just to feeding the GPU's so they aren't waiting since they are the primary producers. But, when I assign those 4 remaining cores, 2 per GPU, then the system starts folding with those as another client.
It isn't a big deal on this server really, I'll just assign each with 44 cores. But, currently this server config is more of a proof of concept before I convert my main one which I will frequently pause its CPU and/or its RTX-4090 while leaving the RTX-3090 folding, often for quite a while at a time which might cause especially the CPU clients to time out.
