Not getting any Work Units.
Got an connection issue, the computer can access the internet properly but it seems it cannot talk with assign4.foldingathome.org:80
Are there something i can do or should i just wait?
It has been like this for like 15 hours.
Running prime 95 instead and it feels wasteful.

16:08:13:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from 'assign4.foldingathome.org:80': Failed to connect to assign4.foldingathome.org:80: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
16:08:13:ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Could not get an assignment
Irrelevant info:
I'm running this machine when i need some extra heat in my house.
It create alot of heat and do alot of work
I can only do CPU work, got no GPU to use.
It is a former node from a calculation cluster that got thrown out because of being "broken", i got a new set of PSUs and it worked just fine.

Re: Not getting any Work Units.
The folding client should be trying to connect to several assignment servers, but you haven't provided enough of the log to see what is going on. If you could post the first 100 or so lines of the log which will show the hardware and software configuration of the client and a WU request from where it first starts that would be useful.

i did cut out some seemingly identical log details regarding connection attempt.
If needed i'll provide the complete log

Re: Not getting any Work Units.
It looks like either something is blocking the response from the Assignment Servers (AS) or they are blocking your system as not meeting requirements. I will have to check, but the X5690 processors only support calculations up to those requiring SSE4.2. I know projects and folding cores have been moving towards requiring AVX, but still were able to run a bit slower using SSE operations. The other possible issue may be that there are no CPU projects that can use 24 CPU threads. For that possibility try setting the thread count to 12 or 16.
Firewall or anti-malware software can block use of HTTP transfers over port 80 by unknown browsers. For that an exception would need to be made to allow the fahclient process to do file transfers over ports 80 and 8080. Some internet gateway boxes such as the Fritz!Box will do the same on their default settings.

Re: Not getting any Work Units.
I'm somewhat leaning towards user error, i might have done something i have forgot or simply lack the skills to diagnose the issue.
I tried setting thread count to 12, 16 , 1 and 2 threads.
Also tried to completly disabling the firewall.
Tested to do telnet, i can telnet to assign4.foldingathome.org using Linux on another machine, but not from the windows machine running FAH.
However i cannot telnet to anything at all exept port 21-22 even with the firewall disabled on the windows machine.
It is possible to paste assign4.foldingathome.org into a browser and get a webpage saying "folding@home assignment server".
This works on all machines.
i will rest and see if i come up with any new ideas
Btw, the client 7.6.21 aint obsolete or something?

Re: Not getting any Work Units.
Something is preventing the client from connecting ... it can't resolve host names.
Is it installed as a service ? Does it start after network services ?

Re: Not getting any Work Units.
According to my understanding it can resolve hostnames.
It is started manually and not as a service, so after network services.
I can do traceroute to assign4.foldingathome.org from all machines including the one i'm having trouble with.

Is there some security software installed that could prevent unknown software from connecting ?
Can you try to remove this from config file ?

Re: Not getting any Work Units.
I might have found the error, i think it was me pressing keys in the wrong order a while back and thereby forwarding ALL traffic for the computing network related to port 80 to another computer.
Then i forgot about it.
All my doing, PEBKAC error
I'll verify after sleeping but i'm pretty sure this was it.
However i noticed it is only using two cores now, i did set 2 cores but changing that setting does not seem to use any other amount of cores.
Can i get it to use more cores in the existing work unit?
Thanks for all the help btw

Re: Not getting any Work Units.
A WU downloaded with a setting for number of core threads will never run using more than that number. You can change the number to a lower one and back to the original just fine though. An increase in the number of threads will be used for the next WU downloaded.
Re: Not getting any Work Units.
Great, thanks
Btw now i have verified and it was me who had forwarded port 80.
