project 16722 very low ppd

Post by YInMn »

Hey there,

i have read about the RX5000 OpenCL bug and i noticed that the WUs of project 16722 take very long to finish with my RX 5700XT with the used opencl driver version 3614.0 (ETA ~1 day, ~15 min TPF, ~200k PPD).
Is the bad performance of these WUs correct or is this still related to a bug in the opencl driver?
And if it is related to the opencl driver would it be possible to block these WUs for RX5000 GPUs or is there any way to avoid them?

(Its just a bit "sad" to see that i got very lucky in the assignment lottery with a few of these WUs in a row :| ).

best regards,

The post you linked specifically recommends updating your drivers, and 3614.0 is not one of the recommended drivers. Any reason you haven't updated?

As for blocking these WUs, they were blocked from RX5000 GPUs until the driver fix by AMD came out.

That's the problem ... i can't update to a newer opencl driver version because version 3614.0 shipped with the lastest rocm release (version 6.1.3) :(
I updated from an older rocm release (came with an opencl driver below version 3600) and i thought that this would resolve the bad performance im experiencing with the mentioned project WUs but it didnt.

And sorry for the delayed reply... Was a bit busy in the past
