Any possible way to manually override checkpoint frequency to any desired value? I would like to CP more than 30 minutes to avoid the heating/cooling cycles on my hardware that isn't cheap... Any config file I can edit or something?

No. Those values of a minimum of 3 minutes and maximum of 30 are coded into the client with a default of 15. Changing that value in FAHControl only effects CPU project WU checkpoints. They do not apply to GPU folding where the checkpoint frequency is set by the researchers for the WUs of a given project. That frequency corresponds to a percentage of completion, usually between 2% and 5%.

P.S. Unless you have a particularly slow CPU or storage device checkpoints do not take a significant length of time. Not long enough to get serious cooling.
