How to uninstall on a Mac?
Hi,
The system resources the software needs has shot through the roof (CPU load 274 percent) on my iMac OSX 10.4 raising the CPU temperature to overheat (75 deg and rising, and the fan going into overdrive(over 2400 RPM!)sounding like a hair dryer trying to cool it down. Thankfully with this new release the web control "Stop Folding" has enabled me to cool the CPU and fan speed is returning to normal. But under the circumstances, I need to uninstall the software. The Mac uninstall guide directs to an uninstall procedure link which isn't there! Can anyone point me to some Mac uninstall instructions please?

Two options, the initial install on a desktop machine will use all but one of the CPU cores, you can reduce the by going to Light on the slider, that will use half. Or using FAHControl, you can set the number of CPU cores to any value between 1 and the maximum available on your processor.
If you still want to Uninstall, the page on the website is showing information current when v7.3.n was out. It appears to have reverted to an old edit during one of the website moves. The correct information is that the installer also included an Uninstall package in the Folding@home folder it places in Applications. Use that to remove the client.

Re: How to uninstall on a Mac?
I'm having the same problem. My Macbook Pro fan has been running nonstop and now I know why. Also at 289% CPU usage.
But I cannot uninstall. Getting an error message:
"fah-installer_7.6.13x86_64.pkg" can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.
Any advice? Thanks

Which version of the client is installed on your MacBook Pro? Unless you have already moved things to the Trash and emptied it, the Uninstall is in the Folding@home folder placed into the Applications folder.
If you have deleted the Uninstall, then to override Gatekeeper go to the Security & Privacy control panel in System Preferences a short time after trying to open the installer package. There should be an option to allow that installer to be run anyways, you will need an admin password to allow this.

Hi, same overheating problem with Macbook.
Even in light mode it overheats.
FAQ says that lowering CPU time usage limit can help, but I don't see - where this option can be edited?
WebControl gives only light\medium\full. FAHControl shows literally nothing when started.

The settings for CPU threads is accessed by using the Configure function of FAHControl. FAHControl can take a second or two to connect to the active FAHClient process, then Configure can be used. If it is not connecting, then either something is blocking the local connection or FAHClient is not running for some reason.

Welcome to the F@H Forum konst54,
Please note that we have reports that with the latest version of macOS, FAHControl might not start. However, can you please post the log file? Ensure you include the first 100 lines which will inform us of what the system configuration is and what the client settings are. If you require guidance, please view this topic: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=26036

Re: How to uninstall on a Mac?
Anecdotally, it seems that the A8 core is able to utilize newer Intel Mac CPUs with their AVX instruction set more effectively than the A7 core, giving double the points but also more heat output. This might be the cause of several Mac users noticing a difference in temperature output from Folding@Home lately.
Since the A8 core is not used on all projects yet, and most CPU projects still use A7 this will vary from work unit to work unit as they are assigned.
