22 goes down to 21, then depending on project settings, may drop to 20. There are a few projects where the geometry of the system being simulated works well with 21, these are exceptions to the usual rule.

A Thread is a a piece of hardware bulit into a Processor. F@H writes software they call Cores, currently the Core_a7 is the only CPU Core.

In a similar fashion, the current GPU Cores are Core-21 and Core_22. Sadly F@H cannot set the number of threads to use in a GPU Core. It always uses the full GPU.
While the CPU Core runs at low Priority, the GPU Core does not.

I really do believe you are all talking at cross purposes here !!!
r0k0 doesn't know how FAH works … You are telling him the numbers 7 and 22 … r0k0 appears think you are referring to the FAHCore designations which obviously he sees in the client … He is not aware that the A7_core can have the number of threads it uses defined in advanced control … Saying not to use 7 and 21 therefore is very confusing because he has no choice as to which FAHCore to use!!!
r0k0 … As I tried to indicate before there is, I believe, some confusion here … People are not suggesting you do not the FAHCores A7 and 22 that you see - these are the bits of programming that do the folding … What they are trying to suggest is that the A7_core can be configured to use various amounts of your computers computing power - your computer has 2 Xeons iirc, each with 6 cores, and each of those cores can do 2 threads of work, therefore your kit has 24 threads of work it can do at any one time.
For every GPU (Graphics card) slot you have running a compute thread should be "left free" to service that with data … The rest of the threads can be allocated to a single CPU slot - and this is where the list of numbers that JimboPalmer and the rest were referring to comes into play - as the number of threads that are allocated to any CPU slot can cause issues.
If I am right and the above is the confusion then I think you may need a bit of help (step by step guide) on how to set up you CPU slot and I will leave this to someone better at those type of instructions than I am to help with this.

Here we are talking of different things setting cpu cores/threads and the core a7 and core 22, the a7 and 22 are work cores and not cores/threads on your cpu. The a7 is the cpu work unit and the core 22 or 21 are the gpu work units, so on the laptop I am currently writing I am running 4 core/threads but a doing core a7 (cpu) work unit.
