slow slots vs fast slots
I have 4 laptops at home which are folding. I have set the same userid, passkey and team for all these laptops. One of my laptop is a gaming laptop, with has a fast CPU and RTX 2060, and hence has a much higher PPD. The other laptops are relatively slower. If my gaming laptop's CPU slot has 33000 PPD, my other laptop's CPU slot might be 4000 PPD. Due to the slow laptops in my mix, will the bonus points of my gaming laptop's slots will be impacted too? Should i stop using my slower laptops?

No
The Quick Return Bonus is determined from when you start the download to when you finish the same Work Unit's upload. So the PC's do not effect each other unless they are all uploading at the same time, which is unlikely.

Re: slow slots vs fast slots
ok, but with the same username and passkey... my gaming laptop's CPU slot almost always completes and uploads at full speed and uninterrupted.... on the other hand one of my laptop is my daughters, and she may turn it off and turn on next day...which means that laptop would be completing and sending back WUs slower... so is the QRB able to differentiate based on slots....or when my daughter takes more time to complete....then it impacts my gaming cpu slot too?

Re: slow slots vs fast slots
The QRB is based on the workunit. Each workunit has Base Credit and the timer starts from when you download the workunit to when you finish uploading it. So your gaming laptop will complete its workunit quickly and get a significant amount of bonus points. Your daughter's machine will take longer and won't get as much bonus points as a result.

In addition to what's been already told, there's a possibility that you may loose the QRB if the return rate of WUs falls under 80% i.e. out of 10 WUs assigned to your identity (username+passkey), 4 have never been returned (those WUs reached the expiration date).

Wishlist: There should be a way to join multiple teams This will help a lot in different tracking goals... e.g. one main team similar to current team, but then, perhaps in my home I would have split faster machines in one team and slower machines in different teams to see how they are performing, and so that slower machines do not hurt faster machines.

You can join multiple teams, for each machine, change the Team ID

Slower machines don't hurt the faster ones. Each machine functionally stands alone.

Are you saying that the same machine, user and passkey can join more than one teams? That is what I was suggesting. If this is already possible, then that is cool!PantherX wrote:You can join multiple teams, for each machine, change the Team ID

Re: slow slots vs fast slots
Yes. Just pick a different team on each machine. If you are counting points, though, be aware that points accumulate and are posted by the user+team combination, so you will have to add up your total points yourself.
Technically, you can change team numbers on a machine at any time, and it will take effect on the next download. It's probably too much of a bother to do on a regular basis...

Re: slow slots vs fast slots
the user and passkey are for you. the team id at the time of submitting the unit is where the points for that unit go as a team contribution.
you can't have one slot for one team and another slot on the same machine going to different teams as the team id is set for the client not the slot.
two different machines can contribute to a single user and two teams.

Re: slow slots vs fast slots
Seems to me the best way to differentiate between machines would be to have different Machine names that all belong to the same Team name/number. That way you could track which machine is doing what and how may points are awarded per WU. In the grand scheme of things, it don't mean much but it can help you keep track of your own contributions to the cause.
I.E. TeamName: Jimxxxx ID#99999 Computer1Name: Jimxxxx1, Computer2Name: Jimxxxx2, etc.

I think of all of my PCs as one farm. JimboPalmer has 21 active clients in the last 7 days and that is all the detail I need. (CPU slots and GPU slots count as a client each)

I think it's also possible for 1 username to have multiple passkeys, and to search the credits based on the passkeys, but I might be wrong.JimTheoHome wrote:Seems to me the best way to differentiate between machines would be to have different Machine names that all belong to the same Team name/number. Should be possible if you use different email addresses to request passkeys for the same user.iceman1992 wrote:I think it's also possible for 1 username to have multiple passkeys, and to search the credits based on the passkeys, but I might be wrong.
