Issu with Work Units Points

Post by stratos412 »

Dear all.
I am a new forum member and new Folding member. I joined one week ago.
I have an issue the last two day with the earning point of the Work Units.
My stats have not been updated the last two days. Also I have completed three projects and points never added.
Is this a server issue from the Folding or something else?
I have the last two projects that I have completed, though i did not get point

PROJECT (GPU) (28/03/2020)
11760 (0, 997, 9) 12 hours 52 mins 31818
Work Unit (PRCG) Work Unit (ETA) Estimated Points

PROJECT (CPU) (28/03/2020)
3860 (0, 17295, 17) 3 hours 39 mins 1673
Work Unit (PRCG) Work Unit (ETA) Estimated Points

Yep, the last two days I also didn't get any points. Hopefully they don't get lost so I will get those points one day.

FAH has a great record of sorting out stats issues as they know folders care about these things ... at the moment they are focused on getting everyone WUs and getting the results back in ... there are delays on the stats production - some new servers as not playing as they should - but the WU data/stats will be resolved it just may take some time as other challenges are taking priority just now.

Hi Joe_H and toTow,

On my side i'm noticing some issues too:

On Linux i'm capable to track the points easily with the following command on my both machines:

Code: Select all

grep credit /var/lib/fahclient/log.txt
Last 3 days my machines did this amount

Machine 1 Linux:

Code: Select all

19:00:32:WU00:FS00:Final credit estimate, 9405.00 points
20:40:58:WU02:FS02:Final credit estimate, 4308.00 points

Portable Windows:

Code: Select all

18:06:15:WU01:FS00:Final credit estimate, 2423.00 points
So according with the https://apps.foldingathome.org/cpu i dit a total of 20897 points instead of 112 232 points for those WU and at the moment i have in total 254,402 points but according with the logs i should have more than +1M points

So as you say before Joe_h you aware everyone here in the forum which the FaH team have ways to check in the future if a WU was well credit or not, that applies too for the WU credited with wrong points?!
(I'm available to share my logs to a FAH member to track this issue for all community)

I'm having this issue since 2 weeks ago, and friend of my team have workstation same as me and appears is receiving correctly the WU points on his FaH stats. So appears this issue don't appear to everyone. Can you explain why this happened? Is a way I can help the community to avoid this issues?

At least one of the delays that I believe are still happening is where WUs are uploaded to a Collection Server rather than the original Work Server ... until the WUs make their way back to the originating server I believe points are not added ... since it is pure chance whether your returning WU hits a busy WS and gets pushed over to a CS there is nothing anyone in the community can really do to avoid this ... The team are working though a long list of work to sort out the massive through put increase and will no doubt get that sorted at some point.

I believe there may be another issue (where only base point were allocated for some WUs and some of the WU counts in your last code list look like they might be base points to my inexpert eye) which sounds like it will require a fair bit of analysis and remediation and that may take longer to sort out.

As I understand it:

For the most part (except where people don't configure their clients correctly, have passkeys, have completed 10 WUs with 80%, etc.) there is not much anyone can do - it is all server side and relies on the team being given a chance to catch up with the workloads ... Therefore the best thing you can perhaps do is advise the community to be as patient as they can - Stats issues will be rectified as/when the team can get round to it ... Already a significant improvement has been made in the last 24hrs or so with the stats for the most part actually refreshing and reporting current stats - If once the team have sorted all the issues they know about there are still missing points then that would be a good time to ask again.

Be careful, the CPU page only displays the latest WU received for each slot ...

Just in case I have overlooked the obvious - You have got a passkey haven't you? (having checked more all five look like base points and have "Got Bonus" value 0)

Hi all,

toTow I'm aware the cpu page only displays the lastest WU received, i show that with the example on my last comment, on CPU pages says i received 20 897 points on my last WU but if you check with my logs on the 3 machines it's should be 112 232 and here i'm only speaking for the last 5 WU I have sent and not for all i have it because they have the same issue too.

Neil-B, I have my passkey for sure well saved :) and yes i'm noticing i'm receiving only base points for my WU sent. I know in the past 24hours the FaH team are capable to do a great work updating all the stats delayed, and that i take my hat off for the great job!
But for sure I will save my logs, take a look in the forums in the upcoming weeks and if i see another different issue, I keep you posted both of you.
Until there, I hope to receive all credits points accordingly, is great to sent 9-12 WU per day and help the science community but will be nice too to be recognized accordingly :)

I do understand exactly how you feel about reward.

The last WUs from your five slots, all from different projects, all being base points with no bonus does fell a bit odd to me (but I am simply another folder) I've seen/heard of the occasional issue re WUs going via CS to WU and base points with no bonus but either you are incredibly unlucky, or there might be another issue somewhere in you client configurations ... or I am totally miss-reading the information and everything will resolve itself in time !!

Hopefully one of those who knows far more than I will have a chance to look at this for you ... they may ask for you to post the first 200 lines of one of your logs and a WU start and WU end as it may give a clue as to what is occurring.

The F@h team is aware of an issue where a server has been just giving base point on WU returns that should be getting bonus points. It is on the list of many things to be checked into and corrected. There probably will be a reaccredit run at some point to award the missing points, no idea fare away that will be.
