Bad work units/folding slot failed RX580

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

These errors are all identical except the project and unit number. I will only copy only that part from now on to keep the post from being too long.

Then I start getting sortShortList errors.

The other ones dont seem to follow any pattern I can see. I am going to remove one gpu in a few minutes and see what the results are.

I'm wasting considerable GPU time/resource past few days almost always concluding as follows:

00:49:08:WU02:FS01:0x22:ERROR:exception: Error invoking kernel sortShortList: clEnqueueNDRangeKernel (-5)
00:49:08:WU02:FS01:0x22:Saving result file ..\logfile_01.txt

Should I disable my GPU (RX570) to avoid wasting power/time here and also mucking F@H servers around?

AMD is aware of a sortShortList ... (-5) for some AMD hardware and it has apparently been passed to their driver coding team. We'll know more when they know more. Meantime, FAH has blocked assigning certain projects to their Ellesmere XT [Radeon RX 470/480/570/580/590] hardware. I'll check and see what's going on with the other project you've mentioned.

Does GPU-Z confirm that your device is listed as 0x67df?

For me GPU-Z has under device id:

1002 67DF - 1DA2 E366

And F@H is correctly seeing it as part of the Ellesmere family

1002 67df - 148c 2377 is the device id of the card I have installed at the moment.
With only one card I am still getting a few sortShortList errors but the other ones are gone. After this WU is finished im going to try the other card by its self.

EDIT: After switching out he gpus the errors are back, so the issue must be with that card only. The device id is 1002 67df - 148c 2378.

I am seeing the same error and it looks like this one project has bad files, though from the other posts there are a few other projects that have similar issues. Project 14533 seems to be the first i have run into that fails. Yesterday it managed to process a few from other projects just fine (though they later failed since i was messing with the GPU clock speed). Here is the relevant snippet from the log:

Just wanted to submit the same problems I'm having with my RX570. Everything installed correctly, drivers up to date (manually installed), no temp or clock problems, etc. Hardware is brand new, stress tested with Furmark.

Also, a few hours ago I had a case of the WU working to 100% only to report "faulty project" I think. Dont have the log anymore unfortunately. F@H Client reinstalled today, btw. Those two reports above are brandnew. Hope the driver team with AMD is on it quickly.

@bignerdguy

This is a different project number than the others, will pass this info on. They are working on seeing if there is a bug in the folding core code for AMD GPU folding or in the driver for certain sized WUs. Temporarily those projects with that many atoms are having assignments turned off to most AMD cards, the RDNA based cards do not seem to be effected by this.

Honestly this is the first i have had that has failed due to this error. All others My card started to process failed due to the clock speed settings on the GPU. Of course i JUST got this card the other day so it hasn't gone thorough many yet. Keep us posted once they find an answer. i think we would all love to know what is causing this. :D

It appears to be a very specific range of size in atom count, could be a bug that was latent until some projects fell into that range and were processed on AMD instead of nVidia.

Yes. it's directly related to atom counts. We need to get the list of projects to the project owner so they can block assignments to that GPU Species.
