I want to add the RSS news into my iPad app, but wonder what refresh frequency would be appropriate. Not that this RSS has often changes but don't want to miss the latest server room cleanups.
I know that project descriptions should not be overused (the URL is quite honest with that); I know that the statistics are allowed once every hour.
But what's with the RSS ? First guess: go with the same hour; problem: if the app is installed on multiple devices behind a NAT all would be the same IP for Stanford ... Might cause trouble ?
Any advise / suggestion ?
RSS, limitation on frequency ?

Re: RSS, limitation on frequency ?
Can't you use the default time from Firefox or other RSS Readers? I would think once a day is more than sufficient since updates come in batches, i.e. you are informed about the planned maintenance about a week or so beforehand so you can mark that day on your calendar and on that day, you might want to open the blog site and refresh every hour or two to get the latest updates.
Not sure if this helps you or not but if Twitter can push updates to you as opposed to getting them, then these two might be useful for you:

Re: RSS, limitation on frequency ?
I use the RRS feed set to once per hour, it hasn't caused any problems yet, I hope it isn't going to?
It's set that way because my reader (Vienna on OS X) also has several other feeds, a couple of which get frequent updates for which one hour (or possibly less) is appropriate. It can't be set to have different update rates for different feeds...
