Re: servers 171.64.65.53 and 171.64.65.54 down
.
When both, original, servers were down, I got an SMP P6014 from this server 130.237.232.140
What about this one ?
Will it become an extra server in the WS SMP setup ?
EDIT: or is this a temporary solution ?

Hadn't noticed that before; thanks for the heads-up
They might assign a new name to it though ... / the latest SMP stuff isn't anything 'classic', really

Re: servers 171.64.65.53 and 171.64.65.54 down
Now I restart the client, and immediately got WU - 6014 from server 130.237.232.140. PC all day waiting for WU.
Re: servers 171.64.65.53 and 171.64.65.54 down
Yesterday I eventually received a 6023 from 171.64.65.54 which I know from previous experience violates my configuration settings. It processed for a minute or two and then hard locked the system. Deleted defective WU.
Later I received a 6025 from 171.64.65.54 which I know from previous experience violates my configuration settings. It is processing without other issues, so far.

farmpuma: what do you mean by "violates my configuration settings" ?

Re: servers 171.64.65.53 and 171.64.65.54 down
The next to the last option in the main configuration screen is a file size option. By default the maximum download or upload file size should be no larger than 10MBs. I am routinely assigned A3 work units with a 20MB upload file even if I set the option to small which is no file 5MBs or larger.

Re: servers 171.64.65.53 and 171.64.65.54 down
farmpuma: In the last (almost) 2 years I have been folding I do not recall seeing a SMP WU results upload that has been smaller than 20MB (unless it was an incomplete WU that errored out). The work units going out now are ~1.7mb is size for d/l and the uploads are ~23mb and some I have had are 63mb in size. Those -bigadv work units are 100MB or more in size.
Now I am not a developer or know how the folding clients figure out the file sizes are going to be. I always assume that any SMP WU is going to be 20mb minimum and most likely larger. That file size setting might not even be looked at for SMP work units (again not a developer or programmer for F@H). It may even be a hold over from when people were using dialup and had way slow DSL/Cable connections back in the day and may be ignored entirely. You may want to ask that in the forum section for the client you are using.
Hope this helps and happy folding.

There is no such thing as a small SMP work unit. SMP is hard coded to use the Big setting. The other settings have no affect.
And as a refresher, the WU size categories are: 'small' is 5MB or less, 'normal' is 5 MB to 10MB, 'big' is 10MB or larger. Yes, SMP WUs have not typically been larger than 20 MB up to this point, but there is no upper size limit on SMP WUs. And as we have seen in the past, WUs tend to grow in size as the project progresses.
No settings have been violated as far as I can tell. And typically, those settings are requests not hard rules. The client can request an -advmethods work unit, but the client may not always get one.
