If you choose the cheapest 1070 vs the most expensive you will end up about the same PPD if your case do not run past 80 degrees F. In addition to this you need a minimum of CPU 3,4Ghz and PCIe 2.0 x8 to take full benefit of the GPU. PPD about 600 - 700k

I recently had one EVGA 1070 FE card which caught fire so that fire alarm triggered. It was no joke. Have many other FE cards too but they have not gone up in flames yet.

You are wrong, it is more like 970. One 970 ends up about 310K PPD.

I have removed the card at the moment. GPU-Z stated 107W from readings sensors, folding stock. GPU-Z reading on GPU load was 100%. But at early stage this will be inaccurate. Anyhow my wattmeter is always tuned and tell the truth. 115W reading was done when the slot folding RX480 paused and unpaused...

Use EvgaPreX or Afterburner. Then boost power limit and temp to max, and core clock +100

He means the performance in folding compared to watt usage is better than previous maxwell gpu generation. It seems to be about the same amount of PPD compared to 980 ti but under half the Watt. I need to spend some more time. Guess the 1070 is faster than the 980 ti.
