Re: how to pause the console client?
Aha, this is actually a good question: the console client will quit if you do a ctrl+C, but is there a "hotkey" to just pause it? That would be a big bonus for me, when I want to do some gaming and my GPU gets a bit unstable under certain games, while the GPU client is running. So I could just pause it, and re-start it after I finish my "very important and serious job". It would be safer than quitting the client, because I have lost a couple of WUs that way.

Re: how to pause the console client?
Brandon, cpu console can be run as service, smp console can be run as service (though not officially supported ). Those can be paused. Gpu on xp/03 can run as service ( but don't support pause afaik? ).
Gpu systray however is able to pause the cores isn't it?

Re: how to pause the console client?
I've seen recommendations that any client running as a Service should be Stopped rather than Paused. it's easy to create a shortcut to the Services tab on your Desktop to make it easier to access...

Re: how to pause the console client?
Now you mention it, I seen that to but thought it was attributed to people forgetting to either continue or stop the client after the pause, which will/can result in corrupt work units. And I think it only really appleid to smp as pausing that could mess up syncronisation of threads somehow ( just guessing, and mainly since it's not officially supported. It could be supported, I mean there is an onpause event where they could handle it entirely and fully but that's not on the priority list so it's 'you can but you're not getting support if you mess up'. ).
But, if you want to stop it anyway, you don't even need the service.

Re: how to pause the console client?
Again, you can NOT pause the console client.
As you have seen, you CAN pause the Systray client.
As you have seen, you CAN pause the Systray client.
