NotFred SMP writes checkpoints?

Does anyone know if the NotFred SMP clients write checkpoint files to a local filesystem eg, if I ran the machine in a VM, and needed to reboot the host, would I lose any progress on the current WU?
Currently running ubuntu 8.04 and the linux6.24beta and finding it faster but I'm having issues with the wireless card which requires rebooting the system once or twice a day.

Best support for NF is given on techpowerup as the author resides there mostly. In general, if you selected the option to install to an usb drive, the checkpoints will be written there. If not, if you're using workstation/server you can suspend the vm instead of stopping it, this will also ensure it will continue from current progress. I use the last option myself, never had an issue that way. Only trouble would be if you forgot to suspend the vm and close it, or if your system would crash. In both cases no checkpoint resume is possible and a new wu will be downloaded and started.

You mean TechReport instead of Techpowerup.

As i know, you have to mount a USB KEY . The work files will be writed on the USB key so if you reboot, nothing will be lost.

Thanks for the correction, you're right
As I said, suspending the vm will also work.

I've used the version of NF that boots from a USB key rather than running in a VM. I think that I need to use a second USB key to provide a place for the work files to be stored but I've never done that. When I reboot, I do lose the current WU (which I'm not happy about) but a second key sounds like something I could/should do.
Does anybody know if this is correct?

I only use a single USB on one of my computers and as long as I don't stop the computer while it's writing to the USB when I restart it does continue on from where it left off. I use 2GB USB sticks but it should work with less. Certainly no need for a second one.

The vmware does write to the vmware disk.
I've used it in vmware for over a month.

patonb: Do you find that the VMWare client makes certain tasks within the windows desktop environment lag?
It seems like the VMWare processes have a slightly higher priority than the standard FAH clients/cores...

open taskmanager and set vmware-vmx.exe priority from normal to low.... It will stay that way until you pause vmware or restart it.

Well I run this without a usb drive, and stop and start without losing work, when I restart it nearly always restarts from the last checkpoint, only time that hasn't happened was when another process caused the system to crash, power cuts didn't do it.
