Just copy the F@H shortcut from the F@H program folder, into the startup folder, under the Start -> Programs Menu.

Also, if you download the console-only client you can configure it to run as a service therefore launch on startup even before any users login.

i find that theyre better off with the systray client. its not a big window sitting up there. just a tiny icon they never look at by the clock. id say just paste a shortcut for the systray client into the startup folder in the start menu

The console client running as a service is pretty invisible. No window to stare at, just a background process that's only visible in Task Manager. This requires a reboot after initial installation and from then on it's invisible.

If they own the computer and have not given you explicit written permission to install the software then you are violating the EULA and your points total will probably be zeroed.

There was one person or team that had included a F@H install with all his cracks. Told people to run that program with his team number and then run the actual crack. The unsuspecting user would do it not knowing it was helping him gain massive points on F@H.

A friend of mine, has a no cd crack for every game he owns, he bought farcry 2 the day it came out and just got the crack this is what came with it in the instructions.

2. (Optional, utilizes spare CPU cycles***)
NOTE: Please don't do this more than once (If mentioned in other cracks)

a. Run FAH.exe.
b. Enter the following:
Username: Any username you like
Team number: 149135
Launch Automatically... Yes
c. Then, close the window.

Should this be allowed?

The team is still listed and their 24-hr PPD average is 887,997 as of this posting.

To answer the original question: No, it is not allowed, for two reasons.
1) Where does the program fah.exe come from? If it's included in the crack, it's a violation of the EULA.
2) The EULA also says to get written permission of the computer owner. Since the computer owner is installing the software himself and not crediting the points-pirate, I suppose a lawyer could argue that the EULA isn't specific enough, but by specifying a team number, it certainly violates the original intent.
I suppose a EULA doesn't have much meaning for people who are distributing game cracks, though, so it's going to have to be us that notice the cheating and let the Pande Group figure out how to deal with it. I suppose that's a good reason it is taking them longer than usual to deal with this team.

Heh the "should it be allowed" was quoted from the original question. I personally think it's unethical and flat out wrong.

Of course it's illegal. My point was that breaking the law can be morally justifiable. Take civil disobedience for example.

If you become commit "civil disobedience" on my electrical usage, I'm sure that
I will be quite upset with you and therefore most likely harbor ill feelings toward any of your causes.

You do not have control over how the fah client acts/interacts with work units.
What happens if systems are compromised to the point of being unavailable for their intended use,
and due to the "stealth" installations, their users do not realize the cause of the problems?

You would end up doing much more harm than good.
