I have a newer computer that I am re-building that has a Nvidia GTX460 graphic card. The CPU is folding properly.

The log file shows:

Code: Select all

12:45:01:WARNING:FS01:No CUDA or OpenCL 1.2+ support detected for GPU slot 01: gpu:-1:-1. Disabling.
12:45:01:Adding folding slot 01: gpu:-1:-1
The command "nvidia-smi" shows:
  • nvidia-smi

Almost done:

Code: Select all

12:45:07: <pci-slot v='2'/>
12:45:07: </slot>
12:45:07:</config>
I am probably incorrect but, it looks to me like the driver is not supporting the graphic card at all?
A restart of the computer and fahclient deletes all the manually created gpu settings on restart.
I am confused why this graphic card is not working?
Suggestions or does this configuration appear to be hopeless?

The TechPowerUp GPU database shows the GTX 460 doesn't support OpenCL 1.2, only 1.1.

This GPU is too slow to do any useful work anyway.

Quickly resolved. Thank you. While I was given this card from a relative I am not out any cash$$. So, into the electronic trash bin it goes. Question is am I rough with it or gentle . . . slam dunk sounds really good! BAM!

In addition to not supporting OpenCL 1.2 the GTX 460 also does not support a high enough version of Nvidia's CUDA. The oldest Nvidia GPUs that can be used for folding are those based on the Kepler microarchitecture introduced on many of the GT(X) 600 series cards. Some of the low end 600 and 700 series cards were still based on the previous generation Fermi GPUs such as used in the GTX 460.

Due to limitations of the libraries used in creating the GPU folding cores, Kepler based GPUs will use OpenCL for folding. CUDA will be used by the next generation Maxwell and newer GPUs introduced with the 700 and newer series cards.
