Ok, I am going to try to see if there are any Linux/Ubuntu Gurus who can help me solve my issue.
I am a member of Folding@Home thread. Team Number 80856, Team name Team XPS
As a group we all have tried different setups to increase our WU & Point production.
We all started with graphic folding clients, and eventually moved up to SMP_Clients.
When I used Windows_SMP, all was fine, and with the exception of an issue with one particular WU (2652) I had no problems.
I then moved to a Linux SMP_Client.
At first I used VMWare Workstation free trial for 30 Days to run Ubuntu. With the exception of a few lockups, I encountered no real issues.
After the 30-day trial, I switched to their free VMPlayer.
At first all was fine, I folded well over 8 dozen WUs with no issues.
Lately, I have had more than a dozen Linux_WUs finish to the end and when the client tried to upload them back onto the Stanford U's servers, I got an Error 0x12 and the client deletes the WU, and downloas a new one.
This goes on now almost every other WU, or I might load 2 good WUs and then the issue comes up again with the next one, and goes away with the one after. The only thing that comes to my mind is that maybe the free vmplayer has issues, but now others are reporting issues on Team_XPS.
*SO, with my apologies for being long-winded here.
The questions are: What is an Error 0x12, and what might cause it, and how can I fix it???
The link above takes you to Team_XPS Thread here on DCF, where I have posted 3 screen shots of the issue. I had to do 3 shots to get the end of a WU in the first snip, and the the client uploading and starting the next WU in the 3rd snip.
If you scroll to the second Snip I have posted there, the Error 0x12 is given there.
Any suggestions, and most important a solution to this issue is greatly appreciated by yours truly and Team_XPS.
Peace
My Current Setup:
Dell XPS720H2C, QX6800 OC'ed to 3.73 Factory Settings
* I have even tried it with lower OC levels, same error occurs.
Running Windows Vista Ultimate, 4Gig RAM
Running VMPlayer and Ubuntu, Folding with Linux_SMP
