Project 13424 (Moonshot) very low PPD

Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I have come across a very strange situation in Project 13426 - the GPU doesn't fold, and the expiration time has suddenly gone to 584942417355.06 years.

Welcome to the F@H Forum tmv,

Can you please post the log file? Ensure you include the first 100 lines which will inform us of what the system configuration is and what the client settings are. If you require guidance, please view this topic: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=26036

You can also provide a screenshot of the issue so we can understand it better.

The initial configuration is to fold only when the system is idle. The last configuration is to fold on Medium setting. Thus, the CPU and GPU should be folding.

When it comes to screenshots, you will need to upload it to an image hosting site (Imgr or something similar) and then link them here for us to view.

The client is still downloading the folding core - the actual application which runs the GPU. Can you also give a log of what it looks like when the folding core has been downloaded? Especially lines which contain "0x22"? Something like below. If it never gets there, then something is wrong with launching the core and not necessarily with the actual folding core.

Code: Select all

10:37:08:WU01:FS01:0x22:Completed 20000 out of 2000000 steps (1%)
Edit: If 0x22 lines don't appear, it might be that you're experiencing the same problem as here: GPU stucks at "Update_Core" which might be due to malware checkers or permission blocking the client from saving and starting the folding core.

Even after setting an exception for the directory, the GPU doesn't fold. But what is really strange is that the WU should be expired by now:

Image
wo kann man dateien kostenlos hochladen

Instead of registering that the expiration date is a few days in the past, it is shown as an extremely long time in the future (overflow?).

Looks like it is still downloading the FAHcore... did the logfile change til now?

There is no change regarding the GPU slot, not even a new download.

Edit: The time that is shown as left is almost exactly 2^64 seconds.

Hi, the correct directory that should be excepted from antivirus blocking is
%APPDATA%\FAHClient
Did you do that?

The folding cores get downloaded to the "cores" sub-directory.

Yes, I did that. That did not help, though.

Considering that the other topic linked above has been resolved, I assume that your issue too, has been resolved?

No, it has not. GPU does not fold any more. The WU has expired, and the client doesn't care. Instead, it thinks that the expiration is in 2^64 seconds. I cannot manually reject the WU, and so GPU folding is no longer possible for me.

You can remove the work unit by right clicking and pausing the slot and then removing the work folder. Use the 'Data Directory' shortcut on the Start menu and delete work\02 or manually navigate to
C:\Users\Thomas\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient\work and delete the '02' folder. Then resume the slot and it should move on to another workunit.

That did not work, I'm afraid. The work folder is not recreated, but there is no visible change in the UI.
