Yes, our anti-spam policy requires your first post to be approved but you didn't ask a support question so I guess we have to decide based on your NEXT post. We can't help you solve a problem if we don't know what it is.

Did you even read the part where I said:

requires you are els

If I try to post my question with any of those in it I can't post my support question. So the question is moot if I can't.

Surely you've heard of a recursive loop. That's the problem I having with telling you what my support question is.

Will you OK a one time post that will allow me to use you are els to describe my problem? I"m sure I'm not the only one with it.

What do you mean by "els"?
Here are some options: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELS - but I still don't get your point.

Anything needed to answer a question about the folding client can usually be supplied as text, we rarely need images, or links to other sites.

Most people figure out that they can describe their problem in their first post and if more information is needed it will be requested. Yes, we often do request log files, and the most recent version of the client may include lines that are interpreted as URLS, but those can easily be edited to not look like an URL.

Now do you have a problem you want to ask about? Or are you more interested in complaining?

Hell rough guess that: "you are els" is URLs.

Thank you Kiore. It's hard for me to not use the word dense... But I understand that when confronted with something unusual that it can seem like someone trolling or some newbie.

I've been in the computer industry for 30 years as a tech of all sorts including IT troubleshooting .

Joe_H! If I type exactly what I want to say your system here tells me I can't send it. I'm asking you to let go of any disbelief or any impulse to arrogance and do what I'm asking. You will see that my issue is legitimate.

If not I guess you just don't need my computing for folding nor of those people who are surely running up against the same problem.

I can't even type the letters that "you are el" represent or the reply won't post. Man is this frustrating

Folding does not start with my computer boot up. I must click on Folding@home in the menu which opens up https://client.foldingathome.org/.

It then starts working. Is there not a service associated with this application that's supposed to do that?

Win 10 Pro... Everything updated.

Just to make clear to the operators of this forum:

Folding@home
URL
an actual url

All don't allow a post as a new person on this board.

On installation you should have had a choice to start folding on startup … It isn't a service as there are issues with GPUs being driven by services (iirc) … Is it that the software isn't actually running or that the client web interface (that that link goes to) is just not opening? … you can check this by either looking at the load on your CPU/GOPU prior to opening the web client or by using the FAH Advanced Control Interface.

My guess is that it is actually running from startup (if that is what you actually asked for) and that it is just the web client interface that you are seeing opened … If you look show mini icons part of the taskbas (bottom right normally) one of the icons should be a mini FAH log - right click on this and there should be links for both web and advanced controls … the advanced control has the ability to look at the log - and the timestamps of that will allow you to check whether the client runs on startup.

So I booted up my computer this morn and didn't have time to wait for icon to show up. Came back this eve still no icon. So I clicked on Folding@Home in the program menu... which seems to both open a web page and start the program (I'm guessing FAHclient executable) at the same time.

I did when first installing tell it to start automatically at bootup... Don't know why it stopped after a month of doing just that. I can't find anything in any of the controls FAH provides to turn on start at bootup nor any entries under task manager/startup (enabled or disabled), and there's nothing listed under task scheduler, and there's nothing listed under Run keys in the Registry (Yeah I know that's redundant but I had to make sure).

Is it as simple as putting a copy of the shortcut in the Startup folder under ProgramData ?

The last post wouldn't let me use the expresion FAHClient dot ee ex ee. Is it really possible to start a program from the content of this forum without a link?
