How much computing power do our schools have?

What would be the effect of every computer in every Community College, every High School and every Elementary Schools downloaded the Folding@Home App?

We have 1,125 Community Colleges, 24,000 High Schools and 89,000 Elementary Schools in America

How much computing power does every X-Box and Playstation have?

106 Million PlayStation 4 Units have been sold and 47 Milliom Xbox One Units have been sold

If every one of them had Folding@Home installed, what effect would that have?

What about a Cellphone app? There are 3.5 Billion Smartphone users in the world.

Welcome to the F@H Forum Chris3035,

For schools, as long as there's permission (generally written) to use the hardware, it can be used.

Regarding the gaming consoles, there was a PS3 client but when Sony stopped supporting it, F@H could no longer use it. However, I do hope that Microsoft/Sony will partner up in the future for their next generation consoles.

Mobiles and other portable devices using ARM requires a significant amount of work. While I am not aware of any plans, things may change (or not) in the future.

Currently FAH wants results returned fast. That is why fast GPUs are preferred.

There are similar projects like FAH which already run on smartphone.

I would like to see a FAHclient on Playstation/Xbox as on christmas the next gen will get released and then the older gen gets retired. These could run FAH 24/7 if Microsoft/Sony would support it.

af FAH client on gaming consoles will also introduce more people to the project. The PS3 client is what got me to fold in the first place. Maybe I would have never installed F@H without the PS3 client...
