The Guru Meditation error messages usually indicate that the folding core had trouble opening one or more files in its work folder. The file was either corrupted, locked by being open for another process, or an actual filesystem fault. Since it eventually failed after too many errors, it uploaded an error report and cleaned out the work directory. So now not able to check the files for the problem.

Folding@Home uses a science package called GROMACS, and GROMACS hates 'large' prime numbers and multiples of large prime numbers. 7 is always large, sometimes 5 is large, 3 never is.

[I am making the rest of this up, you did not post the configuration portion of your log, so I am guessing]

Your Ryzen 7 1700 has 16 threads, F@H calls them CPUs. and 16 is ideal, 2 x 2 x2 x 2, no large primes.

But I am guessing you have a GPU that F@H saw, so it reserved one CPU for it leaving 15.

Sadly 15 is 3 x 5 so it lowered it to 14. Sadly 14 is 2 x 7, so it lowered it to 13, which is prime so it lowered it to 12.

About then it crashed.

I recommend setting it to 12 yourself, and I am going to post generic instructions below for Windows. (I am guessing you have Windows)

In the taskbar to the lower right of the screen, you should see a F@H molecule icon, click it (you may need to click an Up Arrow to see it ^)

The second item in this menu is Advanced Control, click it

On this screen to the left is a Configure button, click it

Now you get a screen with a Slots tab, click it

On this white field should be a cpu item, click it and then click edit

By default F@H set the number of CPUs to -1 meaning let the software decide.
You can enter any number from 1 to the number of threads your CPU supports.
If you have GPUs, F@H reserves one CPU per GPU to feed it data across the PCIE bus.
F@H has difficulty with large primes and their multiples number of CPUs.
7 is always large, 5 is sometimes large, and 3 is never large. Try to choose a number that is a multiple of 2 and/or 3.
2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 16. are good numbers of CPUs to choose.
5. 10. 15 may work most of the time. Other numbers will bite you
Type the number you want, and click save. (I suggest 12)

If that does not help, post the first 200 lines of the Logs, so we can see what F@H thinks your PC looks like.

wow your analysis is right, that's it...i'm gonna bring that number down to 12...

12 = 12 threads is right ? what happens with the other 3 threads ? are they still used or do they fall out ?

If you really want to max the machine out, you could open another CPU slot with 3, as 3 is never large.
Could also go 8/6 for a total of 14 used threads.

PS: From the point of view of FAH, a "CPU" is a thread. I believe the terminology was chosen long before "hyperthreading" was around.

i have 8 core, 15 threads + 1 thread for the GPU...

I have an i7-2600k, which is 4 cores 8 threads.
If I were configuring FAH manually, I'd have to set the CPUs setting in FAHControl to 6 if I wanted to use 6 threads. Correct?
