Old Sony VAIO VPCZ2290X not getting GPU WU

Hi there!

I have an old Sony VAIO VPCZ 2290X, a notebook that payed itself tenfold since I bought it in 2011. It is a core i7-2640M with 8GB of RAM running windows 10. It still feels pretty fast with a dual SSD @ RAID0.

Buuuuut... It has an external ATI Radeon detected by Folding @ Home as a Whistler XT (Radeon HD 6770M Series).

My father uses this notebook on a daily basis as his PC (without the external GPU - was not being used since 2014 and I kept it in a drawer). When I started folding, I thought it might give some extra processing power (in fact< I was amazed it still works), but this GPU never gets anything. I started thinking that it might be too old for the task.

Logs are bellow.

My question: will it eventually get WUs or is it a waste of time (and energy) keeping it connected to the notebook?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the quick response! Will remove the module.

It does not support DP (double precision) which is required by some, not all, GPU jobs. If you know what to look for this (that it is not supported) is shown in the log.

Code: Select all

Connecting to 192.0.2.1
This is a private ip and "not available on the internet" and is how the assigning servers says "Nopes, GPU not supported. Bye.".

True... didn't notice that! Thank you!
