Problem with WU 14541

Hey guys, I've been folding about 115 WUs in the past 2 weeks, every WU were fine until today. All of a sudden WU 14541 is causing trouble with the program.. nothing OCed, no new Drivers, just a simple Computer start like every day.

I don't know if that is a good sign of a partially broken WU or supreme hardware
EDIT: I have to mention I am still getting assigned to that WU. Is there a way around that? I've read to change the machine ID, but I don't know exactly how to do that.

What GPU are you running. and driver version
This project has been known to be quite slow in Windows, and it demands 2 CPU threads all the time as well.

Does you card come with a factory overclock from the reference card? If so, try reducing the clock back to the reference speed. Video RAM speed also can be reduced with little impact on folding speed, and gives a little more thermal headroom for other components on the card.

it's a AMD Radeon Vega 64 on Driver 20.3.1 - with a CPU config of 6 threads max. and GPU is set to standard -1
CPU is a i7-7700K @ 4.2GHz (4-core / 8-threads)

it's a factory OC Version (ROG Strix OC). that means I need to Underclock it? it really only happens ad WU 14541, I folded 14543 (run:0 clone:1922 gen:8 core:0x22 unit:0x0000000880fccb045e7fc1bdcea06201) without any error overnight and I'm folding 14543 (project:14543 run:0 clone:1880 gen:10 core:0x22 unit:0x0000000a80fccb045e7fc1bdb71d427c) right now (with only one WU_STALLED error)

Yeah, ASUS is not the best manufacturer for AMD card, I'm afraid. If you downclock your GPU and VRAM a bit, to see if anything changes. You will not lose much of the performance.
Also, on a side unrelated note, driver 20.3.1: does it cause your computer to crash when GPU folding and browsing internet with Chrome? Mine does that, that's why I'm on 19.12.1 driver.

Different projects will have differing stresses on the function of the GPU. So a clock speed that is stable for one project may be marginal for another. In this case the 14541 WU is simulating a system with just under 24k atoms, 14543 has a bit over 76k atoms. They may also be using different functions of the OpenMM code that the GPU folding core is based on.
The WU_STALLED error my also have been an indication of a condition that nearly errored out, but the calculations managed to continue.
P.S. We consider any clock speed over the reference speed as being overclocked. A bit off here or there will not show up in video, but in the heavily used floating point calculations of folding, that results in errors.

Also, on a side unrelated note, driver 20.3.1: does it cause your computer to crash when GPU folding and browsing internet with Chrome? Mine does that, that's why I'm on 19.12.1 driver.
it crashed with 20.2.X but not with 20.3.1 and only sporadicly while watching YT or even a local Video.

What is your HBM running at?
Mine is at 945Mhz with what seems to be 950mV. This is Liquid Edition though, but I doubt its memory has been touched.
So try that.
Now core clock, mine obviously again boosts higher due to being under water. If you could tell your clocks when under load and voltages under load, I might be able to suggest something

I assume HBM (which is the Memory) is running at 950Mhz (according to Afterburner) which should be at 945Mhz (according to GPU-Z) <- Downgraded with Afterburner
Core Clock is running at 1630MHz (Afterburner) which is default (GPU-Z)
GPU Voltage is at 1200mV (default) (idk know where to see "under load" as it's not monitoring that)
Memory Voltage is at 1100mV (default) (idk know where to see "under load" as it's not monitoring that)
Memory Clock is at 1900MHz (from the 1890MHz default settings from the ASUS GPU Tweak II App)

I always found Afterburner not working well with AMD cards, never used ASUS tweak utilities either (but that's just me old timer living in BIOS world.
What I meant' under load is when you are folding, open AMD adrenalin drivers, go to global wattman (if that still exists in 20.3.1), and see what it is reporting for GPU clocks (HBM and GPU core). HBM is memory speed.
Also I run Balanced profile in Adrenalin drivers, but ASUS being ASUS, they might have their own "stable" profile running.
For starters if you set HBM to 945Mhz with 1000mV, that might get things towards stable area. 1100mV for HBM is kinda high. Mine always self destruct with anything above 950Mhz and 950mV.
For GPU clock I remember having 1600Mhz at 1100mV stable. But 1150mV might be preferable.
With Vega64 less is more
Also all the ASUS/MSI Afterburner utilities are trying to instill their own settings, so I always never used them. Always relied on AMD wattman. With 20.3.1 they should have fixed their wattman to the point where you can rely on it as well

I tried, but I can't find the mV settings. Neither in the Radeon Settings Program, nor in Afterburner/GPU Tweak Monitors.
I Underclocked and Undervolted it to your specs, I hope it won't blow up my rig
(Do you mind sending me a tool for voltage monitoring?)
EDIT: ok wow. the GPU clock mV were all the time in front of me. I guess I'm blind.
GPU Voltage is jumping between 1100 and 1131 mV (Setting is 1150), but still no sign of Mem Clock mV (set to 1000)

If your adrenalin wattman profile is on auto, then everything will be clocking automatically.
There should be Manual or Custom profile with which you are given an option to set everything manually. AMD 20.3.1 layout is different compared to my 19.12.1, so I cannot advise you specifically where and what to set up
