Bryostatin related research papers "might" acknowledge FaH?

Hello,

I've recently found some papers related to Bryostatin research that might contain citations related to FaH projects

1. Advances in exploring the therapeutic potential of marine natural products.
2. Unlocking the Drug Potential of the Bryostatin Family: Recent Advances in Product Synthesis and Biomedical Applications

Although I've tried to reach out to the contacts listed on both papers, neither one responded. Can someone at FaH who has access to the related academic journals confirm whether these papers cited any of the Pande Lab/Folding@home's work on the topic?

I'd like to share this on social media, but can't confirm without a $$$ subscription to get further details.

Thank you!!!

Steven Ryckbosch was a graduate student in the Pande Group at Stanford several years ago.

Thanks - I'll try his Stanford contact email to see if he responds. He's working for Emerald Cloud Lab these days, so I can't get his direct contact, but fingers crossed.

So far, no response from Mr. Ryckbosch ... I have a couple of contacts in academia who have access to international science journals who could connect the dots for the whole community (most of us can't afford journal subscriptions just to satisfy curiosity about how this work proliferates throughout the scientific community, and most folders probably aren't active students with journal access). It does seem questions like this could be answered by active Pande Lab staff members with a relatively short turnaround since "connecting the dots" can create more buzz, and possibly attract new contributors to the science behind these simulations.

This may or may not answer my question ... Do most US public libraries have access to full text articles through some Open Access act of congress? I'll stop into my local public library in person to find out.

Don't give up.

As an undergraduate alumni of a nearby private college, I have access to that library. It's a liberal arts school so it does not subscribe to a multitude of technical publications. As a post-grad alumni of a state University with a local branch I can use their subscriptions but it's more of a hassle. Contacting the author (if you can) is more dependable.

Thanks again Bruce. I'm definitely not giving up :) - it's just hard to find "cycles" to research these topics that should be "no brainers" when personally dealing with aging relatives who sufferi from some of the same diseases we're trying to understand and hopefully cure. I should know more about these papers tomorrow. BTW I'm trying to get an assisted living facility (high end) that my wife works for, to let their PCs fold during off hours. Even something this obvious is challenging but I'll let the community know if that ever bears fruit.

I wanna know the impact of the folding in drug design too. We are folding for years but did we really find anything very important so far. Or how far is the drug discoveries, are we close to smth important.

Perhaps if folders went on STRIKE, they might pay attention to donors?

The best answer to that comes from the techincal papers that have been published. (Listed separately.) You probably need a scientific background to answer that question, except to see the quantity of papers that have been accepted by the technical peer reviewers.

Inasmuch as FAH's research is put it the Public Domain, any other researcher or drug developer can use that research freely to advance their own goals, with or without credit being attributed to FAH.

To what end? That's not going to help anything because it won't get the attention of the drug developer (etc.) -- who is not part of FAH anyway. You'd be attacking the wrong people.

NASA doesn't credit Copernicus for his Heliocentric model of the Universe, (or the lense-maker who contributed to his telescope) even though they use it every day. Moreover the "experts" of that day did try to boycot his ideas without their eventual success.

What's the name of the lab now that Pande's moved on:

"To what end?" Workers were often taken advantage of, what got mgt's attention, was a STRIKE. Mgt saw the importance, of workers, & did something (they previously ignored) listened. The Pande group or (new name) seems to 'Some/many' less caring, about folders concerns or questions. So Bruce a Strike would get Pande or (new names) attention & address issues, previously expressed here, this forum. I believe your aware, or acknowledge, the relationship btwn Pande or (new name) worker bees/folders, & shall we say, taken for granted feelings.

You bring up something interesting. When you say "drug developer" I assume you mean big pharma (Merck, Pfizer etc), what does big Pharma, think about F@Hs contributions? I've emailed several CEO's and asked, what they think about F@H, no response. Does the Pande group or (new name), get acknowledgements, from big pharma???????????? If so sharing, accolades from big pharma to F@H, & shared with folders, would be received with pride by folders!

"You'd be attacking the wrong people." That's a real stretch Bruce, for one we do not know how useful or valuable F@H is to big PHARMA UNKNOWN. Next the term used "Strike" was used to get the attention of Pande group, or new name! As stated!

"NASA..." seems a stretch & off topic!

See FAH Consortium although it needs some updating.

Each lab has it's own director.

It's Dr. Greg Bowman now leading FAH.

FAH scientists present papers of their work here

@Foldy Excellent paper on Bowman

2nd piece is a teaser as you can only get the abstract. It would be nice if FAH posted the PDF here, donors are definitely in the loop or FAH's world

You can google the paper title to get full text if it is published already for free. Which paper are you interested in?
