I see the stats are refreshed. THANK YOU !!
on another note, when i replace the 975 Gtx what graphics card is sturdy enough to survive Folding at home?
what kind of cooling do i need? a friend is using liquid cooling on his newer gaming computer.
will that work for me? if so how expensive is it? I am just fact finding now.
i may need to wait until after christmas to do the upgrade.

I have never encountered a fan based card that overheated. I suspect you of overthinking. Buy what you can afford and fits in your PC, both space and electrical connectors.

Try folding just gpu without the cpu folding and see if your total points don't go up. Mine did.

Liquid hybrid cooling is available on some cards out of the box or retro fitted. In my experience this not required on single card set ups, but useful with multiple cards that don't have good airflow between them. I have 2 hybrid cards in my set up at present a GTX 1080 and a 1080ti which run 24/7 and they keep pretty cool (<55 C) as the hot air ejected directly out of the case. This set up suits me.

when i use the web control i get 3 options, light, medium, and full power.
Full Power gives me Gpu & Cpu folding
medium and light give me Cpu only folding.
I am not aware of any way of doing only GPU folding, but i am willing to learn how

Webcontrol gives a beginner a few choices but for more refined choices, run FAHControl. Options like those suggested are available and relatively easy to manage. (You can also set ANY option, but most of them take a better understanding of the details and are less likely to be of measurable benefit, so don't try setting things you don't understand.)
Ask for advice here if you're not sure. We're happy to help.

I've never really had any problems cooling cards, just make sure you get a card with a good cooler - so anything thats not a blower style cooler and get some additional airflow to the card, My 1080, 1070 and 1050ti all sit in the mid-high 60's depending on the ambient temp, my blower style 1070ti always sits at 82-84 deg C.

Whenever possible, I buy the GPUs that occupy two slots ... (the second one for the fans and the exhaust air).

To fold with GPU only click in the notification area (if using Windows) and click on Folding active, select Advanced control. In the FAH Control window that appears click on Configure, then Slots. In the Slots window amend your ID type to read
1 gpu
save.
That is how mine is set up and works just fine with my GTX 750 Ti

I am on Windows, I do not think we know what you are on.
In the lower right taskbar I see a red and yellow molecule, When I click on it I see Web Control, Advanced Control, Protein Viewer, Full, Medium, Light, On Idle Pause, About and Quit. I then choose Advanced Control.

Are we talking about Win10 or OSX?
Choose here:
https://foldingathome.org/alternative-downloads/
(Note that FAH does not support GPU folding on OSX)
