OpenCl.dll

I'm not sure what's happening but when I try to use my GPU to fold, it says that OpenCl.dll is not found and here is a link to the log.

Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently, I can't post a link to the log and I'm not sure how to do that without putting a link.

Welcome to the folding support forum.

Directions for how to post your log are included in the Welcome to the Forum topic - viewtopic.php?f=80&t=26036.

As for your particular problem, a missing OpenCL.dll file is usually caused by installing only the video driver portion of the package, or the drivers being updated by Windows. In the second case, the drivers supplied by MS usually do not include OpenCL support. This can be fixed by downloading the drivers from either AMD or nVidia directly and installing those.

Okay, I've tried installing the drivers for my GPU through the Nvidia package installer and GeForce experience and both times it says the drivers fail to install and I'm not sure where to go from there.

Perhaps you should do as advised.

This just happened to me right after installing the Windows 10 Creator's Update. A *clean* install using the Nvidia package appears to be necessary to resolve this. That was my first instinct of what to do and it worked immediately. Please attempt a clean install by selecting Custom and checking the "clean install" checkbox on the installer. Then report back.

There are two common problems with OpenCL.dll
1) When Microsoft upgrades the vidwo drivers, it UNINSTALLS the OpenCL.dll that you downloaded from NVidia or AMD, killing FAH. This necessitates (re-)installing the drivers from NVidia or AMD.
2) There are a variety of files called OpenCL.dll, one from NVidia, one from AMD, one from Intel (etc) and as long as you run the one from the manufacturer of your GPU, you'll be fine.

Last week, I got a forced graphics drivers upgrade from Windows Update on my Windows 10 machines ... of course, it broke OpenCL and FAH. :(

I had to install drivers again from NV package and it worked again.

I got the "Windows 10 Fall Creators Update" and automatic driver update to nvidia 388.13
After that folding still working and OpenCL.dll and nvopencl.dll still there :-)
I don't know if that's because of previous nvidia driver install 378 was custom without "Geforce Experience" and "3D Vision"

I've very recently gone through a couple clean installs of both the original Creator's update and the fall Creator's update. It appears that recently, Microsoft has packaged driver builds that do include OpenCL, to my pleasant surprise.

I'm curious. All of my logs have OpenCL: Not detected: but I'm folding just fine. Linux PCs.

I can confirm that, the automatic driver update 4 days ago to version 388.13 included the OpenCL, and also installed 3D Vision. Seems as if Microsoft now uses the full featured driver from Nvidia for the Windows Update.

Well, that's an improvement. I guess Microsoft has finally seen the light.

It's an improvement, but you still have to remove the unwanted 3D Vision thing after the update ... :(

I hope next step is not to install this Geforce Experience shit by default !

Better to add something that is not going to be used and can be easily enough removed, than take away something necessary.
