F@H Installs->Web->Nothing

Downloaded and (apparently successfully) installed the latest version on a new [email protected] box running Windows 7 Professional.

When it auto-connects to the web to set itself up (in Firefox), the F@H page does not find the installation, though it appears to be running on the box and ready for something.

I've uninstalled and started over from scratch several times with no change. I've also disabled my Kaspersky antivirus/security. Nothing.

Any thoughts?

Next time you install again, check the box to start the client automatically. You must have unchecked that at some point.

Mysteriously, it was running with an assigned (default?) project, despite never interfacing with the website. I manually configured some user stuff in the menu. but I was just guessing. I assume it's working. [shrug]

Odd, huh?

The Viewer has a default project, but the Client does not.

The client downloads a fresh WU from Stanford every time it needs something new to work on. We could offer additional comments if you follow the instructions below but if it's working, it's not necessary.

That would explain it.

Well, it doesn't for me.

I just get the "Waiting On: WS Assignment" timing out and re-trying forever, just like from the web page. Either way, same outcome.

Strangely, even some of the internal links from the main site were not going through.

It only worked with the default WU (completion of which was credited to me on the site). Now it's back where I came in.

Hardware config is in my profile.

What happens if you temporarily disable your security software? Does FAH pick up a project? If so, re-enable security and find a way to grant an exception to FAH.

The log in the link shows the CPU is folding.
22:30:32:WU02:FS00:0xa4:Completed 2500 out of 250000 steps (1%)

However, the failed assignment for the GPU is because of the older GPU with limited support. (GT218)
22:28:30:WARNING:WU00:FS01:Failed to get assignment from '171.67.108.45:80': Empty work server assignment

Either pause the GPU slot, or you will need to configure some extra setting using the FAHControl panel for core_15 work units.

OK, I paused the graphics card and I think it's working. We'll see.

Thanks for help so far...

If you decide to fold on the GPU, set the client-type to beta, and the max-packet-size to small, on the GPU slot only. The windows install guide on the fah web site has a pictorial how to set slot options.

you can right click on the icon in the lower right corner and chose advanced controller to see that, the web controller for me doesn't work either ( I'm guessing like was mentioned it's being blocked by security software or something, but I prefer the advanced controller, so no problem for me.)
