My New GTX 760 needs 10 days to complete a WU. There must be something wrong?

What nV driver version you use ? What WU you got assigned ? Mind sharing config part of your log file ? And the part where we can see the WU getting processed ?

Try to use nV driver before 32x.x; they work better on the "older" cards. For GTX 780 and up the newer drivers are better.

Driver: GTX760 9.18.13.4052

Had to stop all so I could use the computer.

Thanks

Do you have any overclocking applied ?
Are you pauseing the GPU yourself or is the pause forced by client ?
Could you downgrade the driver to 314.x or 307.x ? Your driver is too new.

Also you need to wait some frames to get real estimation in finishing time and PPD

No OC

I have because if I don't it makes it very slow to move the mouse. On a different computer now...

Ok I will Again to see what happens.

Thanks guys, but I think I have been there done that. I have not down graded drivers yet.

Time to get away from folding, I have know Idea what I am doing

You probably already know this, but there are a couple of things you can check.

1) Boxed fans often have lower quality bearings which do wear out. Check that the fan is actually turning.
2) If you have not cleaned your heat-sink recently it may have accumulated enough dust to limit air flow.
3) A fresh application of a high-quality thermal compound between the heat-sink and the CPU often helps.
4) Sometimes there's nothing you can really do other than to fold with fewer CPUs.

Fah runs at half speed on NV drivers newer than 327.23, unless running GK110 chips or newer. Downgrade for better performance as mentioned above.

You might want to try setting <idle v='true'/> for your GPU. The intent it so pause the GPU whenever the operating systems considers the keyboard/mouse in use and to unpause when the OS would normally activate a screensaver. If it works for you, FAH's GPU activities should be suspended whenever you are using the computer and resume when you're not.

(If you decide to fold with the CPU, it's not necessary for that slot. The Operating System has the ability to interrupt and resume CPU processing based on task priority and it happens so quickly that FAH's use of the CPUs doesn't produce a noticeable interfere with your foreground activities. My hope is that someday GPU drivers may be able to do the same for GPUs but there is a lot of driver-development work and/or hardware development-work before it can happen.)

When I tried to go to 314.XX the installer stopped and said no compatibility card detected.

I just did a full cleaning including thermal compound and windows 7 install.

Ok I went to version 327.23 I read in another forum that this is the one you need for the GTX760. I am letting it run lets see if the TPF improves.

My bad, sorry ! The oldest one I can find on NV driver page is "GEFORCE 326.80 DRIVER (BETA)" but not sure if that would solve your issue. Try to find any driver before that ...

That would be in-line with 7im's suggestion ...few posts above ... good luck and hopefully it solve it for you

This worked 7im thank you. Thanks to everyone else too. I am now getting 80K PPD instead of 7K PPD.

I do like to game on this computer also, I assume that the newer drivers are more efficient for games, any word on why the new drivers hinder folding so much?

Thank you,
E

The newer drivers may or may not be more efficient for games on your GTX 760, you would have to check one of the tech sites which tests that kind of performance. As for reasons why the OpenCL performance took a dive on the earlier series cards, no reason has ever been given by nVidia. All that is known is that once newer drivers were released with support for later nVidia GPU chip sets, starting with the GK110, performance of the older cards dropped by about half.
