Hi
Just checked if somebody faced this problem but all of it was about Ubuntu, and I run folding on Win7.
cpu works fine, but gpu permanently fails
GPUs: 1
GPU 0: NVIDIA:2 GF108 [GeForce GT 430]
CUDA: 2.1
CUDA Driver: 4020

Error log, rather havy, but informative, I hope:

What video driver version are your running and did you get it from Nvidia? Older drivers and drivers not gotten from Nvidia (i.e. OEM) often do not contain the OpenCL drivers which are required to run Core_17.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 430
2/9/2012, driver 8.17.12.9573

That driver should be recent enough to contain the OpenCL drivers but it still seems to be having problems with OpenCL. Did you get it directly from Nvidia? I think I would DL new drivers and install them.

just tried running driver update, the driver is already up to date

No. Download the driver from nvidia web site. Not the driver updater.

Download nothing newer than 327.xx, or the GPU will run slow, but P5 is right, you do need a 3xx.xx series driver, and you are only at 295.73.

I've personally used 327.23, 314.??, 306.97 and they all worked fine for my GTX 580's and GTX 460's.

Try 327.23. Anything newer will cause slow running on your card, but I don't recall any bad reports for 327.

Is there anything else I can do, or just updating driver?

Driver update is first and only thing to do when there is Bad PlatformID error.

Install the 327.23 driver from NV as 3 of us have recommended now, please.

Just tried 320.49 - installer refused - "did not find compatible graphic hardware".
Same about 327.23

The 327.23 drivers from Nvidia should work fine on Win7 with a GT 430. Try running the driver installer again (with FAHClient shut down) and this time select the Custom install. Remove the check beside all but the graphic drivers and check the box below that says something like "perform a clean install".

You may need to uninstall the old drivers, reboot, use a driver cleaner, and then install the new drivers.

I know it works because I have a GT 430 myself.
