Did I do something wrong?

Post by DutyCalls »

Hi, I'm new to F@H and I'm having some trouble. I already installed the 32-bit one and installed the control center. However, I press fold on the current client and it says it's running, but when I hover over the icon at the bottom tab that has the start menu, it says it's inactive. Plus, the ETA always says unknown. I know it takes a long time, but after 1 day, it still hasn't gone through any progress. Also, a made a new slot, is that ok?

Please help

Welcome to foldingforum.org, DutyCalls.

No, you didn't do anything wrong. The V7 client is a beta version and has many open tickets for cosmetic bugs. The "unknown" information will be fixed when the server code is updated (which may be a while) This is a new feature in V7 but it takes an update to both the client and the server code.

Also, the FlyOver text from the systray icon isn't dependable. Your client is folding just fine, as evidenced by the information you'll see if you open FAHControl. Hopefully that one will be fixed when the next beta version is released, but since the actual code is running correctly, it's not considered important enough to release a new version.

I accidentally deleted my new slot ): but in the work queue, it's still there. How do I delete it?

Thanks though, Bruce :)

If you have two slots of the same type and you delete one, the work enqueued on one slot moves to the other one. If you delete the only slot of a particular type, the WU can't be processed so it is discarded but the client will report this as a deleted WU. We strongly recommend against doing anything which deletes WUs because it introduces significant delays to the science.

The "Finish" function is provided as a method to complete the current WU and upload it without downloading a new one, thereby avoiding the deletion of any work.

Last Question
At the top it says Client: local Online inactive
Again, should I worry about the inactive part?

Yes, you should worry about the inactive part. I see "local Online Running"

Go to the Log tab and press Reload. Then post the segment of the log that is shown (The most recent activity). Then scroll back to the top and post from the beginning up and including several lines that include :Unit xx: after the times.

You said earlier that you deleted a slot. Which slots do you have now? Do you need to add it back in again (or uninstall/reinstall)?

16:08:38:Unit 00:Completed 0 out of 500000 steps (0%)
I have that as the most recent activity. Here's wat shows on my log

I uninstalled F@H and the reinstalled it, so the slot is now gone. I only have 1 now.

Actually, never mind. It now says online runnin. I just added a slot and it started doing that. Thank you Bruce XD
