I've noticed recently that some spammers are getting around the first-day link ban by posting random garbage in the post and providing the link in the signature. Has there been any thought about disabling url's in sigs for the first day to combat this?

Indeed, I've reported some of them myself, but it would still be preferable to not have them show up at all.

Isn't it possible to disable the signatures something like the way new users can't quote other members or post URLs?
A harsher approach would be to have signatures on an invitation basis, like applying for the BETA Team
