Anyone knows the amount of data sent by F@H?

Hi,
since I am currently bandwith-limited by my ISP I was wondering how much bandwidth does F@H client use during a day/month?
Say I run my clients 24/7 with a combined PPD of 10.000, how does that translate into monthly data sent/received over internet?
Many thanks!

2x linux SMP + 1x GPU. Combined PPD is about 10k

Look in your FAHlog.txt file. When each WU is completed, it will record the amount of data being transferred. For example the WU sent below, was 20,538,494 bytes. Every WU is a bit different.
Code: Select all
[12:49:50] + Attempting to send results [January 7 12:49:50 UTC]
[12:49:50] - Reading file work/wuresults_05.dat from core
[12:49:50] (Read 20538494 bytes from disk)
[12:49:50] Connecting to http://130.237.232.140:8080/
[12:50:58] Posted data.
[12:50:58] Initial: 0000; - Uploaded at ~294 kB/s
[12:50:58] - Averaged speed for that direction ~300 kB/s
[12:50:58] + Results successfully sent

[12:50:58] + Number of Units Completed: 1044

SMP results are between 5 and 50 MB with a mean around 20 MB. And GPU are in the 100-200 kB range.
Data files are small on SPU client (<100kB) and medium on SMP clients (up to 5MB).
Count how many WUs you turn in every day, and you'll have an estimation your amount transferred everytdaYy

Wow, so if I completed 300 WUs in December (according to EOC stats) and I multiply that by 20MB I get 6GB of total data transferred during that month?
Geez, my ISP cap is 30GB fo christ sake

The amount of data you send depends on the type of WU you elect to work on. This is a different SMP wu, 49,267,527 bytes
Code: Select all
[14:56:15] + Attempting to send results [January 7 14:56:15 UTC]
[14:56:15] - Reading file work/wuresults_02.dat from core
[14:56:15] (Read 49267527 bytes from disk)
[14:56:15] Connecting to http://171.67.108.24:8080/
[14:58:39] Posted data.
[14:58:39] Initial: 0000; - Uploaded at ~320 kB/s
[14:58:45] - Averaged speed for that direction ~317 kB/s
[14:58:45] + Results successfully sent

Another thing to consider is how your ISP calculates your usage; downstream only or upstream and downstream. If they do downstream only, then when you download a new WU it counts towards your 30GB.
Some ISP's do the upstream and downstream and others just care about the downstream.

But I bet 75% of those 300 are GPU work units, which, as noted above, are A LOT smaller than SMP work units.
