Does not install itself as service?

Hi all,

I have downloaded Folding@home-win32-x86-623 zip file and extracted it to 4 different folders in my documents folder to run four simultaneous clients. I have answered yes to install as service question during setup. All four downloaded cores and started running successfully.

However when I restarted my PC, none of them installed as a service. I had to start them manually.

What can be the problem here?

Do you run the client with high enough rights to allow the client to create the services ?

WIndows treats services as something that only system administrators can do. If you create one as an admin, you'll normally get a pop-up asking for elevated privileges.

Look in the ControlPanel Admin application "Services" and you'll find that you need Admin rights to see a service or to start/stop one. Once one is created, you'll see the names on the list, but you'll probably have to adjust TaskManager to show the processes for all users since they don't run under your Windows username unless you do some manual changes.
