Its great to see GPU numbers increasing.. but i just hope Playstation 3 numbers don't keep falling the same time GPU numbers increase.
The best result i'd say is when the amount of 'active' users total for the project keeps increasing.. across the board (across all clients) as i'm sure many of you would agree.
I will however get a GPU for folding ASAP! lol

Unfortunately the trend for PS3 is going down, not up. Here's the global
TFLOPS graph for the last months. You can see how PS3 processing power keeps decreasing over time:
Here is
CPU activity for PS3 for the last 10 days:
Code: Select all
2008/07/26 06:03:52 47525 -0.07%
2008/07/27 06:05:00 47437 -0.19%
2008/07/28 23:06:13 46562 -1.84%
2008/07/29 06:03:57 46589 +0.06%
2008/07/30 06:04:01 46247 -0.73%
2008/07/31 06:04:22 45872 -0.81%
2008/08/01 06:04:06 45336 -1.17%
2008/08/02 06:03:55 44166 -2.58%
2008/08/03 07:42:08 44696 +1.20%
2008/08/04 06:03:45 44616 -0.18%

I do not worry much about the PS3 numbers, because the PS3 is in full production and it does come with pre-installed FAH client. It is likely just a summer what is decreasing running PS3 FAH client count. It is too early to say what is what we see here.

whatever the reason, i think we should maybe do a bit of a 'Foldathon' to increase our numbers again, and grab a few more 'active' folders.
Is there any special Folding@Home birthday or something coming up? I know that i'm gunna try and do something for my team, which will be two years old in November! lol Foldathons kickass!

Something major occurred on GPUs. Server problems or global meltdown?

Sudden drops can be usually attributed to server or server and client software communication issues. Perfect example on that is the PS3 client issue couple of months ago.

Ah, so that is the reason. Good to know!
I should check that site more often.

nVidia alone is about to eat PS3 for lunch! Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow guys.
Code: Select all
ATI GPU 288 2615 5731
NVIDIA GPU 1075 9775 15557
PLAYSTATION®3 1115 39547 581294

What's interesting is that the average GFLOPS/GPU is about the same for NVIDIA and ATI, slightly higher for ATI even. This clashes head-on with the points discrepancy between the two. What's going on?
