We'll look into this. Hopefully it's an easy fix, but often fixes seem easier than they are in reality.

Time, maybe? I think it's because it seems like the fix or change is trivial, but like he said, it's likely a bit more involved when one gets right down to it.7im wrote:Why is every fix assumed to be easy? If it was easy, why didn't they just do it the first time?
Thank you for your response! I have a low-power, virtually silent (passively cooled) P-M system ready to fold. It's not the greatest, but given the chance I think it would meet A4-uni deadlines and is the only system I don't mind running 24/7.VijayPande wrote:We'll look into this. Yes of course I'm oversimplifying a bit, as any change in a complex piece of software can have unexpected consequences, but I do believe as bugs go, this is one of the simpler ones to fix. Also, I actually did consider why they didn't do it like that in the first place. There may be a reason it was done differently, and if the fix is anything but simple I don't expect PG to put much effort into providing support for a marginal platform.7im wrote:Why is every fix assumed to be easy? Ditto here - After months of not getting any work, I just discovered that my old Pent M laptop was sitting there waiting for completion of a Windows Update reboot. When I restarted it, it picked up Project 10424 (48213, 0, 8), downloaded core A4, and is off and running.Snod Blatter wrote:I know it has been forever and a day since this happened and people might have moved on to other things (I myself am slowly mining Dogecoins!) but I just tried the v6 client on my Pentium M and was amazed when it downloaded the A4 core and is currently crunching Project 10424 (Run 45098, Clone 0, Gen 9). So I guess this did eventually get fixed, though it took a very long time. Anyone else had a go?
