Simple answer: You can't.

When server status shows a number in bold in the WUs AVAIL column, it means that FAH considers the server (almost) out of WUs to distribute. When a server doesn't have any WUs to give you, nothing you can do will magically create more. Otherwise the server waits for others to upload some results which does create more, or waits until someone from the Pande Group releases a new project.

When this happens, the Assignment Server is supposed to send you to a different server that does have work to distribute. It looks like there are three other SMP servers and they all have plenty of work.

I keep hoping that this server will get upgraded to their new and improved server code. It's been problematic for a long long time. Better than it was in the spring when it was down for weeks, but still....

I've been as vocal as the next person if not downright ornery in my criticism of the handling of this server, but I will jump to PG's defense in this case, not that they need me, in stating that it has never been down for weeks, not while it's been in active duty anyway and certainly not this past spring. I use it exclusively for notfred folding and I'm pretty sensitive to its performance as well and would remember. Perhaps you're thinking of another server.

Back in february and march, you couldn't get a work unit out of this server to save your life.

Oh you can fold, you will get kicked over to a server that dishes out a1 core units, which uses your processors very inefficiently. Your units per day and points per day go way way down. Or like back in march, you get sent I don't even know where, and get units that cut your production in half, or even worse. I was getting 800 point units that took almost as long to run as the 1920 point units. It was so bad in feb and march, that I quit smp folding altogether and just folded on an old G4 and an even older pc. You can see this in my stats if you click the stats in my sig. The good part of all of this, was I built a quad core box to deal with the less desirable work units, and then got into gpu folding which sidesteps the entire issue quite nicely. Course by then they had mostly fixed the issue and this server was up and dishing out work units again. Like the stock market, you need to diversify yourself into the project to deal with the bumps along the way.

Our team lives and dies on this server, you can pretty much tell when its not working just by looking at the team output...

It looks like it's assigning right now--have things improved or are you still seeing problems?

I restarted my clients (and Noah's) and they are getting the A2 WU's again. We have some A1's to work thru but that is how the cookie crumbles. I just hate crumbs....... :)

Thank you again kind sir.
