There was another "black hole" from 12/30/08 23:13 until at least 12/31 8:47. I shut the client down over night at that point.

I'm getting all my Windows machines being sent to this server all the time right now and changing flags makes absolutely no difference. It would seem that the classic servers are in a pitiful state as I've got a mountain of work that won't go back as well.

i have been unable to get a work packet for around 24hrs now, according to the log file it has 12 failed attempts. Is there anything I can do about this or any way to change the server I am attempting to connect to?

I don't know what this server is (there no associated projects in the psummary list), but it has an extremely high netload (947 at the time of this post).

edit : I've finally found an old thread about it ... I merged everything related to this server in an unique thread, and posted an note to try to get some more details.

This served out those 5 pointers a while ago and needs to be taken off line (or better still, fixed). Only server I'm getting work from is 171.67.108.13 and in most cases there's a long delay, only a few units left on this server, needs sorting ASAP.

ToTOW, do you mean you merged it all into this thread, or into another thread?

I also saw the high netload (943 at this point) - also it is serving 27% of the work units, but those (LW, presumably classic) units have a relative weight of 1, which ordinarily reflects low priority work units.

Maybe it's being tested in some way, and the netload/assignment rate are just artifacts?

@hisui - "Couldn't send HTTP request to server (wininet)" indicates that in your configuration, you have "use IE connection" as "yes." Change this to "no." As I understand it, this part of the client was broken a long time ago during one of the windows updates.

@prberg - right now, the net load on this server is very high, 946. Hopefully when someone from Stanford gets in (it's 7:45am now), they can do something to adjust this.

Neither Port 80 or 8080 will Ping/Answer "OK" - and the Stats Server is loaded down too. Other servers answer up just fine with an "OK" prompt.

This is becoming a more regular occurence, 139 refuses to hand out work, changing configuration is fruitless as the other server 162 is too busy to give work & who wants to keep changing configuration ALL the time when clients lie idle for hrs.
PLEASE FIX THIS SOMEONE from Stanford!
139 is STILL showing a net load of over 900!!!!!

Server load is back to a more respectable load of 18 & just handed me a work unit, I had to change flags & work unit size to get work though, normal + advmethods worked for me.
I hope the test for 139 is over for now.
