I know i have to get to 10 first but this is what it says and it says they are finishing. Your thoughts?

also i got a payout in BAN tokens after my first Wu finished i believe or maybe that was just a test exchange. I'm not sure

Heat can ruin your laptop but you have a fan that's supposed to move that heat outside.

Yeah ive been running it at medium power for almost a day now and i am in a super cold basement as well as the laptop just feels a little warm. Not anything thats super hot or wildly hot feeling.
From what you see on my folding what should i change/ can you help me change, that can maximize the potential for my folding? i saw a guy say that i should change some things up a bit to guarantee the completion of Wu's at a 100%, but when i look at my stats it says that 5 Wu's have started and 5 Wu's have completed but the points dont look correct at what they are showing for potential. or is that just a super high estimate like another guy was saying?

At first this was called Optimus, but is now called Max-Q, I think.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/te ... echnology/

So you have two GPUs, but only one is active at a time. Worse, the Nvidia GPU is not swapped in until AFTER F@H tries to use it and fails.

In my ancient laptop it was a BIOS setting, more recently some have been able to constantly enable the Nvidia GPU in the Nvidia Control Panel. Some folders here have had some luck using MSI Afterburner and altering some setting then minimizing it. Apparently the Nvidia GPU is enable until you close Afterburner.

None of this is obvious or easy. but it is what you are up against, in my opinion.

By the way, you seem to have an older version of the Nvidia driver. This is a more recent version: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/results/170799/

What am i looking for because this is what im seeing and it looks to be completeing but im not sure. It says reward points 50,000 but when im running the folding it says estimated 100,000 points. Will this point estimate change and get more accurate the more i run it?

thanks and alright yeah sorry. This is so much for someone who has never even looked into coding anything or doing anything like this before. Also i adjusted the configuration early on the code after that one should all be the same and not messed with. my most recent code post is what is happening now. I think its all working properly but i was just worried about it saying ill gain this much points, but then giving me a different amount instead. Thanks for helping and explaing these things to me.

I agree it would be amazing, but I have no current laptops with MAX-Q technology. My last was 12 years ago, and was controlled in the BIOS.
Investigate, but make no changes, Search the Nvidia Control Panel for a setting Power Management Mode and set that to that Prefer Maximum Performance. You hope to lock the Laptop to always use the Nvidia GPU* Take screenshots and we can advise you on what to change.

I searched YouTube for a video of the Nvidia Control Panel on Optimus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9wXMHSvssQ Check to see if you have a Preferred Graphics Processor setting and choose the Nvidia.

I hope this helps!

not sure how to post images here but am i looking for processor? or high performance power. because my high performance mode is already on and im plugged into a charger plugged into the wall so thats fine on battery power and if i go under graphics 3D i can select prefferred graphics processor which is currently on Global setting auto-select (intergrated) but i can switch that to high performance Nvidia processor. Again this is 3D settings which i dont think that is what im looking for.

I'll throw in a final thought before I go to and get some rest ... From my experience the points to be gained from running a laptop cpu slot simply isn't worth the heat it generates .., and not that I am a cpu folder in the main ... basically the gpu is much more productive - you will see that from the estimated points figures from the cpu wus (the ones with 0x22 as part of the line) when the laptop gets too hot the gpu slows down ... now the heat generated by the cpu can actually reduce thyou ought to be running a temperatures monitoring e speed of the gpu enough that it reduces in points more than the cpu gains ... folding both cpu and gpu on laptops needs good laptops, and lots of care/management - either that or a "I don't actually care about my laptop I just want to get as much out of it as I can until I fry it" attitude ... by just running the gpu slot the temperatures can be managed easier.

But when it comes down to it it is your call ... look at the points that each type of wu gives you (0x22 in log lines is gpu, 0xa7 or 0xa8 are cpu wus) you will see the difference in points ... then it is up to you to decide how hot/noisy you want to run you laptop - you ought to be running some temperature monitoring software (at least until you understand you kit and the impact FaH can have on it).

The problem lies with trying to produce basic walkthroughs is there are such a variety of bits of kit, such a variety in styles/patterns of folding and such a variety in the drivers to participate and what people are prepared to pay/put up with that it becomes a somewhat large challenge ... and no one person will know how all the bifferent bits of kit need tweaking/adjusting or each folders decision points.

The forums can help a lot - there is quite a lot of information in the new folders forum ... much of the information on the website re points, passkeys and qrbs is still relatively accurately/relevant ... and google/youtube has a vast wealth of information about tuning/cooling/troubleshooting/managing hardware of all types.

Laptops for the most part are not actually designed to be run hard and by design their cooling is lacking ... this can simply make folding on them a set of compromise choices dependant upon personal limits ... it can take weeks/months to get to the point of understanding kit and how to fold on it well - stick with it and you will end up understanding how it can be pushed to its limits and how to tune it for most production or most efficiency :)

Yeah i noticied that the cpu wasnt generating very much points and was wondering how i could turn that off and just run the gpu? with the gpu its pulling way more points and i think it would be better long term 24/7 running my laptop to do that. Also i have an Asus Tuf Gaming Laptop. It's built to cool itself better and run harder from what i understand compared to other laptops. I think at the moment it is working pretty well. I'll be working on it and configuring it better and better as much as i can with the help of you all. I'm gonna get a temp gauge and set that up next thanks.

There are any number of them but the one I use most often is Speccy, it will measure CPU, Motherboard, GPU, and Disc temps if available.
https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy

thanks says my average temp is 84-86 degree C
how do i go about turning off the CPU folding so i can just run the GPU folding? and whats a fair temp to run it at?
