Okay, so I came from Boinc. Longtime (2004ish) cruncher for Climateprediction and then for WorldCommunityGrid when Climateprediction had reduced WU's to send.
I see from the Server stats page that the server I'm attached to seems to be okay. 128.252.203.10 -
Is there anyway I can get my pc to manually connect up to the server and try and download a WU to crunch or fold? My next connection is in over 2 hours time and by then the server may have run out of WorkUnits. I have 3 laptops that are eerily quiet.
Two have made 15 attempts to get a WU and one 14 attempts. Not happy if I see the server stats page saying that there are WUs available. Assign rate is the correct column?
In the meantime, I am restarting the BOINC projects throttling them down so that if I do by any chance get a WU I can crunch that as well.

I hope my machines are good for this. My graphics cards are old GeForce 540M and GeForce 610M, and my third laptop just has a CPU.

I'm amazed that this post is so quiet. I am a veteran cruncher on Boinc with Climateprediction. net and then when climateprediction didn't have WUs I added WorldCommunityGrid.... Thought I would reduce power and give some help to F@H as that is the global emergency. I have 3 laptops that I added on Sunday morning 15th March. They did their first folding unit and then.... nada. I saw from the servers that they are dishing out wus very happily. Assuming that my 3 laptops CAN contribute to F@H .... 2 very old graphics cards GeForce 540M and 610M
I have 3 laptops that are very quiet. Can I manually nudge them to check if they can find a WU to crunch? My main laptop is going to search again in 5 hours time....?
Please keep us updated. I'm a veteran cruncher, but new people will be put off...

So, to begin with, you can reset the retry timer by pausing and unpausing (for each slot or for both), though this may also overload the servers, so I'm only doing this when the timer exceeds 1hr.

As for getting WUs, there seems to be some prioritization of hardware, meaning higher performance systems gets WUs first; my older desktop (i5-4670k @4ghz, R9 290x) only occasionally gets WUs, whereas my newer laptop (i7-8750h, rtx2060) gets far more work, especially on the GPU.

You can try pausing and restarting and it'll attempt again sooner.
